Newbie needs help updating MPC2500 for first time ever on MA

Hi,
my MPC2500 is running slow so I think I need to update the software, I have a Mac and I have downloaded 'MPC2500 - Operating System [v1.24]' which comes down as 'mpc2500.bin'. I have put a USB into the MPC and MAC and have followed the instructions in the manual but nothing is showing on my Desktop or HD. So I need help…do I have the correct cable (what exactly is the correct cable?) If you could let me know what instructions to follow, Im clueless! Thanks

Does your 2500 have a hardrive or compact flash card in it??

Hi, Yes it has a compact flash card (it has an internal HD as I bought 128gb of ram for it) Thanks

It has a compact flash card as I said, I do not know the ins and outs as I dont use it in conjunction with my computer I'm getting a friend to update it via his Mac PowerBook...can anyone talk me through updating as in my first post it would be helpful as we have tried everything we could think of but it still doesnt work, as I say is the cable right? is the file right .bin?

the compact flash card needs to be formatted in the MPC first... you can do this from the LOAD/SAVE screen... format your CF card in your MPC... then go to USB mode , make sure it's set to compact flash and press the MOUNT button... it should show up on your computer then... drag and drop the BIN file to your compact flash card... then proceed to follow the jjos upgrade instructions all over this site.

Hi sorry for the late reply! Thanks for the info, I think it was the Cable in the end why it didnt show on the LapTop. We followed your intsructions and the Bin file is now on the MPC. You say follow the JJOS Upgrade instructions? Are these them viewtopic.php?t=76675 Could you give me a quick break down of the next step? Is a LapTop needed? Does it take long/is it complicated? What do we read/follow to upgrade! Thanks much appreciated, Peace
