if you want more ram get a computer.

if you really like the old gear then you have to work within the limitations.

to further elaborate - an old sampler isn't a magic fx box you run your sounds through and then discard once you've got 'that sound'.

you get 'that sound' by using 'that machine'.

nothing is stopping you from doing it like you said (resampling into the 2000xl) but yer putting in twice the work for very little gain.

yea if you have started to notice - its quite a can of worms with no real 'right' or 'best' way.

the best advice i can give you is to quit talking about it and do it... find the first but desirable and affordable thing that comes to you, and start working.
you can't make a 'wrong' decision and the thing thats going to matter most vs this gear or that gear or this technique vs that technique is how much work you put into it.
you'll figure out all the details yourself.
