Remember that even though you are limited to 10 secs on SP1200 you can still TRACK your stuff to 4 track or whatever and just layer indefinately
That is what ALL those old school producers do and did

seriously though, me and my ***** used to do beats with nothing more than a a roland ms-1 phrase sampler and a yamaha 8 track/recorder, and while the sound quality was sheet, on a musical level. the stuff we did sounds better than some of the stuff that i do now. Creative use of tracks and sample space made the stuff sound good and complex.
