The korg volca bass got me excited since looking over at the tt303.

at about 150 it seems like a great deal but no audio input.

All 3 for less than £360? Sweet.

£120 is a great price,

2 concerns no line in nor line out, only a stereo headphone out.

would love to use the 12db filter on the bass/poly for processing other sounds.

I love what korg is doing lately. I understand the idea was to keep it small but my only downfall I see for me is the 1/8 output. Not a big deal nor a deal breaker....but at 150 not much could be a deal breaker. First one for me is the bass,

Would be great if they added a fourth one down the road strictly as a vocoder, with a filter, to run any signal you please through it.

The headphone socket has apparently got enough "juice" to act as a line out.

The circuit benders will probably go to town on them anyway, including filter mods.

I can see the benefit of all of them, so it'd be tough to not get all 3! The Volca Beats is like a mini 808, the Bass is like a 303 with a twist, and the Keys would probably be badass when you hook it up to a proper keyboard.

This is a smart move...
I love my Korg synth
and this direction they are taking now is wonderful,
and I am sure other analog boxes will be coming
from other companies soon as well.
Whats's old becomes new and the cycle continues.

Saves me from having to spend a large amount on a TR909
and worrying about it breaking...(PRAISE GOD!!!)

I am definitely getting the drum unit...
I just want to hear the synth a bit more before I take it seriously.
First mod I can see is getting rid of the speaker and converting it to an output.

Looking forward to the analog drums.

@ SCIGUY fix please.

I'm really hoping they gear these towards modding like they did with the monotron/tribe. Labeling patch points, providing schematics, including easy access under-the-hood for "hidden" features, etc.

I wish the drum unit had more parameters to adjust for the synth sounds.. instead of just click, decay, and tune...


The bass synth is cool I guess.. but I am not huge on the korg step sequencer way of making melodies.. it winds up being the type of thing where I need an mpc sequencer haha..

I am wondering though.. the synth unit.. maybe it can do bass sounds too.. comparing what is possible with the two of them might be good.

Either way, korg is really cashing in on that market... roland did have an avenue once upon a time with the sp series... but it kind of ended there.. then korg with the microkorg, the electribes, and all those.. and now with the analog ones..

roland needs to smarten up.

It seems like they are aiming squarely for an 80s inspired drum machine. The 'click' parameter will hopefully be capable of going between a thud and a boom style attack. There's no cheap analogue drum machines out there, so this could be a real winner.

I think all the boxes will be able to record sequences in realtime. If not, well at least there's basic midi implementation for triggering from the MPC.

Roland are too busy making V-Accordians, million patch 'synths' or shit that nobody wants. They're not at the game... in fact, they don't even know there's a game going on.
