i wonder if ableton or any other daw will have templates for the Ren!? kinda like what maschine has.

I cant understand why the Ren hasnt already got an ableton template considering akai work so close to them? i really not impressed with the ren as a plugin yet...
As much as i didnt enjoy using the maschine, the maschine was much better in plugin form, and at switching between plugin and the daw controls.

So has anyone come across a template for Abelton? I am figuring it out rite now how to utilize Ren as a plugin in Abelton. A little tricky but looks fun. And lots of potential.

I have gotten a contact to a guy inside of numark. He told me the request for the Ren to be able to control Abelton as well as Akai software has been noted. And was noted a while back. I think it would be awesome to jump into abelton and the Ren. Here was his response.

"I certainly agree, I would love to use functions of the MPC Renaissance dedicated to Ableton. The request was made and posted in our feature request tracker, which is reviewed by development, some time ago. I would personally love to see a ‘User Mode’ in the MPC Renaissance that would allow users to MIDI map the controller without affecting the way the device functions in the MPC Software. Something that would allow users to flip between the MPC Mode and User Mode."

Why not pick up a Push or APC?

Just start with a blank project in Live and make your own MIDI device mapped to the REN. Save it and then you have a template.

I have an APC 40 and Launchpad. But I would like to see that the REN is also usable as an regular universal midi controller e.g. for Cubase and plugins without to open the REN software. We have here one of the best built unit but I was a little disappointed when I received REN and tried to use it as an MPD 32. But perhaps they will implement this future with an template editor like Machine has :).

I know that the hardware was built to give the best experience with MPC software, but again.....with this feature you have the ultimate machine. MPC, Soundcard, superb hardware and midi controller

The Ren was designed for the MPC software. I believe this was asked awhile back and the response was that you can possibly use the Ren to control other software but Akai will not be providing templates. With that said, it makes sense for them to concentrate on making this product solid as designed instead of a feature that few may use overall in the grand scheme of things as there are quite a few DAWs on the market as equally or more popular than Live.

this is a feature that is badly needed i dont want to buy a push or anything else when what I have is supposed to be a midi controller

all these Qlinks and you cant even assign them to anything with the ren software being so so for alot of things that a full on daw does it makes no sense to do this like why?

all this they will only use our software with our hardware and not even press a note using our hardware with other software is kinda pathetic to be honest so to have a full on controller I now need to buy actually controller that controls things

wow

......a MIDI controller designed for the sole purpose of the MPC software. It's not a general purpose MPD controller with templates to be used with various software programs. But if you have some programming skills, you maybe able to use it beyond what it was designed to do.

....and it wouldn't hurt the functionality of the Ren software to be able to have a MIDI mode which would allow you to get even more value out of the nice controller they built. I understand that there are more pressing things that need to be taken care of first (a lot of them) but theres no harm in wanting it to be more than it currently is. Let people dream and make requests even if they don't align with your own vision of what it should do.

I never said it wouldn't align with my own vision. Don't be silly. Chopchop believed he purchased a generic MIDI controller which the Ren isn't. This is completely different than saying 'I would like Akai or a 3rd party to develop a template so I can use the Ren as a generic controller.'
