Hey guys,

I'm planning to buy a MPC 1000 but I've a question.

I am actually using Abelton Live 8 for my productions, but would love to use the MPC 1000 for the live.

I was wondering if this is possible to transfer my tracks on the MPC. Transfer the track by track on the MPC Sequencer.
I would like to have one pad controlling one channel. For instance the pad 1 controlling the drum kick, pad 2 controlling the clap etc...

All my songs are ready, and this is more for a live using aspect! To be able to control each channels with the MPC.

Does that make sense ?

Thanks a lot

I have both and you gave just enough info that I think I generally understand what you want to do.

" I would like to have on pad controlling one channel. For instance Pad of controlling the drum kick, pad 2 controlling the clap etc..."

By that do you mean you want to have each MPC pad correspond to a channel in Ableton? And each Ableton channel has a loop of the individual drum sounds? Or do you mean you have individual drum samples on individual channels in Ableton in Simplers for instance and you want to use each pad to control individual Simpler/Drum Sounds over MIDI?

The answer is yes to either. It would come down to maybe making some templates in Live and saving them with the MIDI assignments/routing. Then maybe also save some PGM templates in the MPC that will send/receive MIDI data on various channels and note # assignments to have the amount of hands on control you want.

So generally speaking you could, have an MPC pad just start/stop Clips in Ableton channels using Live's Remote mapping. In that case the MPC is just acting as a MIDI controller like an MPD or a MIDI keyboard. (You could also switch the pads to a chromatic note layout and use the MPC's 4 banks to play Operator/Sampler or other VST/AU with keys).

You could also sync the two over MIDI, with either the MPC or Live as the MIDI master. Either of those scenarios allow for the MPC to record MIDI from an Ableton channel, or as is generally more common have MIDI tracks in the MPC be recorded to Ableton devices like Drum Racks, Sampler and other VST's, or just have the MPC's MIDI tracks control stuff in Ableton in real time. If the MPC is the MIDI master it's play/stop/rec controls will control Ableton too.

Elaborate more on what you want from the combo if you like. The way you worded the middle of your post I'm not sure you mean triggering single sounds or whole loops in Ableton from the MPC. But again I'm sure most everything you're wondering about is possible.

If you do go for the combo they have an excellent PDF book for sale on this site. It has color photos, and sounds/PGM's to load that make going through the examples a breeze. Many people here use Live and an MPC so you'll find lots of help I'm sure. PM me if you ever need to. If I can't answer off top I'll plug in my 1000. Seldom used but always just a couple feet away, and I use Live regularly.

Hey Thanks a lot for your answer this help a lot ! I am actually using my XR20 as a midi controller with Ableton live.

But I've another question (and maybe this wasn't clear in my first post). I will love to be able once a song is down on my Ableton sequencer to transfer all the tracks on the MPC sequencer. I don't really want to use my macbook when I am playing shows anymore and will be able to play all my tracks only with the MPC 1000.

So for instance if I've a 16 tracks songs produced on ableton can I just transfer all these tracks on the MPC and play the song live with my laptop.

My tracks on Ableton are mostly Audio files so I don't want to transfer Midi files to my MPC but .wav tracks.

Thanks again

To make it simple I will love to transfer my audio clips from Live to the MPC sequencer to don't have to use my macbook during shows/live perfomances.
