I will respond using the criteria of both unit quality and SOUND QUALITY, forget the hype. Im an audio engineer by the way so your results my vary, but here goes....

AVOID

Alto mixer... built like rubbish and sounds like rubbish. very cheap.

CRAPPY

Behringer mixers... not too bad for hiphop where sound quality isnt the biggest worry, but still not the only choice for similar cost.

SURPRISINGLY GOOD

Yamaha mixer... theres various ranges of compact well priced models and they sound good! I was very surprised. Competes well with Behringer.

GOOD AND MOST USED

Mackie series... 1202 VLZ PRO and others wont die on you, sound good, and have pretty good pre-amps too.

EXCEPTIONAL

Soundcraft mixers... there are a new range by them that are very compact and well priced, and certainly sound amazing.

Keep in mind that most people wont be able to tell the difference, which isnt an insult - most people just dont HAVE to work on their hearing like a muscle. plus as i said, hiphop isnt as anal about sound quality as pop or even progressive house, so any half decent mixer will be ok.

Using good cables is important to... they are another thing you can really "hear" when you do a side-by-side test, which is quite surprising.

Keep away from Alto... shitty. Also on-board effects are lame and just = another thing in the signal chain to degrade your sound. avoid avoid.

The Thickist and Goldish ones!...remember to have your cables tidy and not near power supplies or power leads.
