ok so. I've installed it but the software is a rip. I cant install the sh!t lol. the software that is... so I havent had time to really dig deeper. As for the actually floppy emu drive. its installed and seems to be working but it doesnt recognize my usb thumb drive because i cant install the software on my pc to format the usb tumb drive properly.

I installed the solderless backlight too. perfect.

cleaned it inside and out

installed new thick pads.

im sure it works... but that floppy drive... O.o.... mine is screwed up. Although, I still use it sometimes for just sampling the one time and recording the result. Also the tone program is classic..

btw. the S900 is on its way. looks like I'll have this whole new vintage set up to get familiar with. should be fun. 12bit type shit

yeah.. so how you liking those fat pads? do you have the cork circles under them? I am not really into them too much but for me they are better without the cork things cause those start to slip after a while and screw up your pad pushes (in my experience)

I totally agree about the corx. I had the same experience on my 5000 and removed them immediately. I have the felt circles (very thin) on both the 5000 and the 60 ii. much better. i like a lot

All you need now is the SP!

Don't yous find it too noisy with your MPC on top of an S-series sampler ?
When I tried it the sampler case was way loud everytime I hit a pad on the MPC so now I only ever have the MPC on a tabletop.

Did you manage to get the floppy emulator up and running? Not having a Win XP is stopping me from pulling the trigger. I believe the software formats your USB stick so that it is recognised in the emulator...or something like that.

i dont have xp. it doesnt work on mac or win7. i'm trying to find a person with xp so i can formt a gang of usb drives. other than that I've had very little time ironically to dig into my new vintage set up so i dont have much to jump around about just yet. but I cant wait. its like having the winning lotto ticket but having to wait for holiday season to be done before you can cash in.

VMWare Fusion is a good option for running XP on a Mac. There's a copy of XP 'floating around' that's under 200MB that's easy to find.

If you dont do that, maybe it might be an idea to grab an old cheap xp laptop from craigslist (you can probably score one for what? 20 bucks?) they are easy to store away and drag out when you have some legacy apps to run or what not.

I have an old pentium 1 NEC laptop for that reason... got it in brand new condition (seriously, who bought that back in those days @ a few grand and never used it) shit has a touch pad with no finger wear.. 24 megs of ram, and a battery that still gets 2+ hours of life on a single charge... and if it's fully charged it wont need to be plugged in for a year... **** quality IMO.

anyhow, yeah... recommended solution if you dont go the virtual machine route.

yeah i do have virtual PC. but its running win7. hmmmmm. just thought about it. I may have an old copy of winxp some where around here.

I just installed the Gotek floppy emulator, and there is a programme that works in Windows 7/8 on the included mini CD. It's called in an archive called "usb-floppy-format-tool_v123_sfd".

You've probably just increased the value at the same time. I'd rather have Roger's signature on my MPC than, "It's ya boi, DJ Nobody".
