Im baffed here

I cant seem to record midi notes into my from my pads so i can seq in ableton tracks rather than mpc in plugin mode

ive tried au and vst but can get the midi to record in the daw and its not showing any signal this is weird because before you load the plugin you can see a midi signal when you load it up the signal stop...also i can play the pads pgm midi using a keyboard through my mpc but this defeats the purpose of me using my mpc

any clue whats happening here

only thing i can see is export midi file above the pencil the drag the fike back into ableton bit long winded

you should really be able to hi light the notes then drag then on to the midi track like other vsts but no. it's certainly is a bit odd. :?: but not really surprising.

i never use this as a plugin as it seems wasted, standalone is much better running side by side

let us know if you get it to work
i did get the transport work by selecting one of the mpd control surfaces don;t know if theres a ren contol surface :?:

and the midi mapping seems fine

It seems like a bug or something they say in the videos and tuts and in pref you can choose daw or plugin but the only thing it send as midi is transport but you can see the pads sending midi up until you load it up

akai really rushed the shit out of this man who the got working for them?

yeah this is what is pissing me off. let me know if you get anywhere. There is an insane way I got it work routing midi through IAC but you still cant use the q links or anything useful like that. No idea why it has the option send to DAW if it just straight doesnt work....

Limitations some are experiencing with Live is essentially a Live issue. Pro Tools and the Ren is a better match....

and the odd part is If i draw notes it plays them if i tap the piano roll at the side it plays whats on the pads and the pads light up... i just cant for the life of me get it to send midi to ableton

in the mpc prefs the Hardware Transport C, select DAW makes no diff what so ever no midi signal comes from the pads but you can see the midi light when you press transport

before you load it as a plugin every button on it including the pads send midi but the moment you choose plugin AU or VST and midi from pads dies and none of the settings in the manual or the tut make any difference

I really hope they fix this man

ChopChop....

Akai and Ableton has always said they are not coming out with a "Midi Remote Script." for the new line of MPCs. Midi Remote Scripts allow units to work as a midi controller within Ableton. They have always said that it will be on the users to create a script to unlock the Ren to be used as a full fledge midi controller within Ableton. I found a Midi Remote Scrpit for the Korg Notation for Ableton and it did not look to complicated. I think there will be one floating around the internet very soon. At that point we would just download the .txt file and place in the designated folder and then the Ren or Studio will be available in the Midi Surface drop down menu.

I am not sure this applies to all DAWs but I know it 100% applies to Ableton. I assume they want to keep the systems completely seperated but be known as partners. Business wise...smart but Customer Service wise....shitty.

Ive tried this maybe im doing something wrong but the minute the mpc is loaded up pads and qlinks stop send note and cc messages

Is there anyway around this it doesnt seem possible to me it seems like akai has locked the midi to within the plugin and the only thing that sends cc once loaded up is are the transport button

which is very lame to be honest why on earth would you want to export a midi track then import it this does not aid work flow in teh slightest its anti work flow and to me renders the plugin useless

Come on akai!

What are you trying to do exactly?

In standalone mode, you create MIDI instrument tracks. You will have up to 96 Qlinks to send MIDI CC messages to any connected MIDI device.

When used as a plugin in Pro Tools, it has similar capabilities. It's MIDI is routed to Pro Tools Instrument or MIDI tracks. The 96 Qlinks are still functional to send MIDI CC data to these tracks. All the routing is handled within Pro Tools using these tracks MIDI Input and Output.

Using this method, I can sequence hardware sound modules or other plugin instruments hosted by Pro Tools in addition to the Ren's internal programs and plugins.
