Hey, so I have a used MPC1000. Everything has been working fine and it took me awhile to learn how to use it, but I finally got the hang of this thing, and I've been making beats fine. But then recently, out of nowhere this thing got totally messed up. One of my programs got totally **** up and when I went to check on all the pad settings, all of them were written in weird characters I've never seen, maybe from some Asian alphabet or something.
I reloaded all of the settings and set it up back to normal, but after a few more times using it, one of the next times I turned it on it had the same problem. Also it erased the sequences on like half the beats I made.
I'm so frustrated and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do without putting a shit load of money into this thing, which I've already done. The only slightly logical thing I can think of that might've caused this was I accidentally placed the MPC over an itunes gift card on my table, maybe the magnet from that somehow **** it up? The magnet doesn't seem powerful enough to mess it up, but I can't think of anything else.
Any suggestions?
