as an option Jah yes along with controller mode and not needing to load the plugin just to control hence a profile in your daw so it knows it as a controller

thats not a big thing to desire from the ren and would not in any way mess with sales(which is why I suspect its not implemented from start) from mpd and so on as they are way cheaper and are only controllers

I think people who want a controller will by a controller but people who want a ren or maschine wont want to buy a controller on top of that so they need the flexibility of both

the neutral will go for the option with the most options/not needing to buy a controller

I understand what you mean now. But why are you triggering samples from Maschine's pads but only recording MIDI events into the DAW? What are you doing with the DAW's MIDI track next?

Because using the Ren in plugin mode or maschine if a had one which I got then Ren over I would want to seq and arrange on the fly as i would with any other plugin seeing the midi within my daws midi tracks

think this if you have a 5 min song and various sequences going on then you would have to visualize what you see in your daw inside the Ren track and then seq accordingly if you want to make changed go back in the Ren's track at a point where you need to make the change and this is just anti work flow

if your doing it in real time the fact it could be left located where you was playing it doesnt really help as you may want to edit in silence/offline not playing knowing what you want to do and navigating in and out of midi tracks within midi tracks can just put you off completely

when you would normally just make you edits to your midi tracks as you do with every other plugin that sits on a midi track

in a sense Its half setup already

Jah try this load up plugin in daw then load up pgm with samples then click into a midi track with ableton you have to actually record some so just press record and it will create a blank box then go inside it and find your pgm by playing up the piano roll and youll see that once you find it you can draw midi in and seq the pgm so its getting there

its just the control from the pads are not

so a clearer setup of pads/pgm to midi makes it work better

The purpose of MIDI is to trigger some instrument. So typically, the Output of the MIDI Track in Live would be routed to a plugin or an external MIDI module.

Since this is the case, what is the benefit of having the Ren trigger sounds from its pads to record into an unrelated MIDI track in Live? Wouldn't it be better if the Ren's pads send/record MIDI events in Live without triggering the Ren's sampler?

If you assigned the MIDI Track in Live to an instrument and then tried to use the Ren's pads (when a program is assigned) to record into Live...you will be triggering two instruments at the same time.

your confusing the issue again being able to jam the samples from the pads and have their sequence record in your daw is much desired for the plugin hence PGM/Pads to notes I wouldn't then be wanting that to control anything else so there are no unrelated tracks and no two instruments

If I just wanted to control battery I would just do it the way we spoke of and not load up a pgm to seq but even that way is not good at the mo having to load up the plugin just to control something and when you dont it has no structure hence Controller mode

do you understand what i mean now?

What Im saying is having to seq your pgm inside the mpc plugin track rather than the track it lies on inside your daw is a drag and anti work flow and just a basic feature anyone would want using any plugin

I get what you are saying pretty much. But why try to record on the DAW track that the Ren is hosted on? The Ren is not a multibral sound module designed for multiple programs to be sequenced from another sequencer. As soon as you change a Track in the Ren, your DAW would now be playing the currently selected Ren track.

Its not the ren track its the actual pgm we are wanting to seq

thats where pad/pgm to midi comes into it why would anyone want to add more steps to what is a simple task of sequencing your samples/pgm in your daw I thinkmost people would expect it to be the program you have chosen to do this with when you do it in maschine you do it over the actual machine kit/PGM so it would be just that PGM being multibral has not been mentioned

please look carefully at this video its not multi programs

This guy gives an ok example of doing what you ask about. I wish to see one of standalone mode. And I like the mpc sequencer way better. But Abelton is way better at setting loop markers "warp" And for live sets having all of your sequences in front of you would be a must. Thats were having the Ren control Abelton would be nice.

That is where the misunderstanding takes place. The Ren Track and Ren Program go hand-in-hand. You CAN'T sequence Ren's programs without it being assigned to a Track in the Ren. So if you record on the DAW Track that hosts the Ren plugin, you have just eliminated use of the remaining 127 tracks.

You can only use the Ren VST on 1 track.
