Program Level Effects?

Looking at the manual and at the Renaissance and I can't seem to find if this is doable. Is there a way to insert effects on a program level that will effect an entire program? For instance, if I want to use a VST EQ across an entire program, how would I go about doing that? All I see now is pad effects, which I assume I would have to set up the same effect on each pad, and track effects. Is there something I am missing?

I'll answer your question but you probably have not gotten an answer because this has been gone over many times thoroughly here.

You have a few options.

1) Write all of the MIDI parts on the same track (don't use any individual program inserts) and you can use the one track as a bus channel with inserts.

2) The other option is to load all of your samples on to a Keygroup program rather than a drum program because you can apply FX to a whole keygroup

3) Your third option is to route all of the sounds out to your DAW or another program and apply your inserts there.


I believe all of this could be solved by adding inserts to Submixes, and letting us have at least 16 Submixes.

My apologies for rehashing old topics. I'm new to the Ren and this was one of the first things I was looking for. I'll look into options 1 and 2. I believe this all can be solved by adding effects at the program level. They could even be in the same dropdown as the filter section, or something like it.

You left out one other choice which is the only option in hardware MPCs. And that is to use Send Effects.

Very true and also not 100% true. And yes, I thought of using the Send Effects as well. On the 4000, EQ is a "filter" and thus usable across all samples in a program (DRUM or KG). Also, you can use an effect on a program and then resample that program with the applied effects to free up the bus. I'm not sure if you can do that on the Ren, haven't looked into that part yet.

You left out one other choice which is the only option in hardware MPCs. And that is to use Send Effects.

I always forget that one because when I think of applying effects to a whole group I think of Buss compression which you can't do with a Send.

Sends are great for Reverb and Delay though, sucks you only get 4...

You would add the buss compression in the Master FX slots...

Well thats for master FX for the overall mix. With buss compression you want to do things like run all of your drums through the same compressor(s) to kind of glue them together and give them cohesion. You don't necessarily want to run your synths, FX, and vocals for example through that same compressor so you need to have multiple separate busses to achieve that effect.

I may be wrong, but you can insert 4 effects or plugins to the entire program in the track mixer section or page. I have done this many times.

ive also been asking for pgm level FX for some time now.

i also think their fx NEED an update, considering the arsenal that maschine comes with...

akai is lacking in those areas.
