how do i record midi into cubase 7

Hi i can open mpc studio in cubase 7 as a vst, but how do record midi data into cubase 7 when i hit the pads on the mpc srudio,i have loaded a kit into the mpc studio ?

Well id like it to do just what a akai mpd would do? Any idea how i can get the studio to do that?

A few pages back on this forum I explained how to do this the title had cubase 5 but I use 7
If you want to make a beat using pads u have to do it in mpc sequencer then copy it over into cubase using the instructions in the above post i mentioned ,you can manually input notes from the drum editor in cubase
U can use mpc studio as a controller for groove agent or others not tried others but all the buttons trigger notes and I've not really spent much time on this

In the way that your asking it cant be done and that why I put a poll on this subject hopefully akai bring this feature into the plugin its a much needed feature who wants to be exporting and importing midi? not exactly a smooth work flow is it.

You can send midi from a Midi track with the MPC plugin to a Midi or an Instrument track in Cubase but no midi from a Pgm Track to cubase in fact.

Off course

- Open the MPC plugin as a VST Instrument

- On the REN switch a Track from PGM to MIDI

- Create a Midi track with MPC-01 as Input

- Load any VSTi and set it to your midi track output to It

- Play with your pad and assign q-link as you want.



Just transpose It to Cubase.

i still can't get it to do that, i dont even have those mpc mdi channel 1,2,3,4 listed in my in or output...cubase , i only have mpc studio mpc port 1, and mpc port public...let me know what i could do...

The following guide covers how to route MIDI from the MPC Renaissance to MIDI tracks in Cubase 7:

That note repeat page is not correct it only tells u half the story it dont mention that u have to make your pattern in the mpc then switch mpc to midi from prg then disconnect the midi out in cubase others wise u get midi data overload the record your pattern into cubase whilst not hearing it then connect the midi out in cubase then turn mpc back to prg from midi then you can hear mpc also u have to switch loop on the mpc (every time u load your project
I u want to use it as a mpd buy an mpd no offence whilst it will control other vsts in cubase the pads as well as all the buttons trigger midi data so I'm assuming it wasn't designed for this but u can still use it but not to it full potential ( the ren may be better as it has more q-link )
I'm thinking that the studio /ren will always have to be used in a daw using there daw unless they over haul the software for every daw if you think about it. I'm thinking that because of the intergration of the controller/screen within the sequencer /timing/ quantizing/note repeat .!come on akai prove me wrong .

What CPU system are u using
Because you need to install the PC virtual midi port or on the mac activate the irc driver in audio/midi setup there is docs about it in the latest up date

It looked too complicated to setup so i never botherd trying it... its a shame it dont work like a mpd, i thought it would but no...its shame

Can you post a link to the cubase 5 tutorial discussed?
