My soon to be ex cat just pissed on my 5k

did he soak the whole thing? Was it just one section? If it was just one section, what part of the 5k, which board did come in contact with?

The screen was probably self combusting (a common problem with the 5K), and luckily the cat was on hand to douse the flames... with piss. Stranger things have happened.

It took me almost 60 seconds to realize that "CAT" meant the animal and not a fellow.

Cat piss is one of the most shadiest kind of piss out there next to rat piss and roach vomit. Its more oil based than water based. Letting it dry will just let it sink into the pores of the motherboard and smell like cat piss all day. Even cause rashes and other sickness'.

if you want to see exactly where the cat managed to piss in the mpc, use an ultraviolet light. cat pee glows in ultraviolet light.

I've taken the entire board out and rubbed it down with alochol, sitll freaking out like its wet. I have no idea what to do at this point.

Any other sugestions?

yeah... clean it and find the short... then let it dry for a couple of days.. use a brush to get the grime in between parts.

Turning it on while still wet is prolly one of the worst things you could've done..

As I get deeper into this, I'm realizing its not just the right main board, its the internal boards as well. So my day will be spent taking this thing entirely apart, cleaning it and then im not even gonna put it back together for a week.

I'll keep y'all updated, and thanks to everyone who made me laugh on this thread. If it wasn't for that, it'd probz be in the garbage by now

Get a can of contact cleaner at radioshack and have at it. If it's off-line cleaner, you'll have to let it dry or shoot it with air.
