i have this same problem when when i am trying to loop a sample and put a beat to it so it sounds tight all in the mpc.
First i would listen to the sample and try to manually use the tap tempo feature to get the tempo settings as close as possible.
then i would set the sampe to one shot,
hitting the pad at the start of a 4 bar loop(for example) and then trying to fine tune the tempo so it loops tight.
the results are not always convincing like this ...am i going about this the right way or is there a better way to do it.
i could time stretch the sample using computer software but this is for situations where i just have the mpc
