Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I just recently started having a problem with my MPC. After loading the files from a folder off of the zip, I can play the sequence and sounds that are there immediately after it loads, but when I switch to another sequence or bank, the screen shows all of these strange numbers and nothing will play and the pads/keys lock up.

I have to eject the disc, and re-boot. Then the screen will read "Please insert MPC2000xl disc" Luckily I had a backup of the .bin file on a floppy and installed it. That temporarily fixes the problem. However, I only seem to have this problem with this particular folder on that zip disc. I tried loading a diff. .aps and .all from a diff. folder, and I have no problem.

I just recently installed the eb-16 and am not sure if this was causing the prob. as I have some effects applied to sounds in the folder that is giving me problems.

Any ideas??? thanks in advance...

Sounds like you have a corrupted file / OS is corrupted.

I have in the past attemtped to open up individual wav files in
Sound Forge and that way I found which ones were corrupted.

If an OS re-install doesn't help I would try to find the file(s) that are corrupted.

Also, try loading a song that has none of those same sounds in it. If it still happens then it could just be the OS.

Since I found this thread in the archives I thought I would bring it back since I am having a problem like this. When I load up samples on my 2000 from my internal drive( 3.5, not a zip) my screen turns into mush, looks kind of like a wave went through it. It doen't freeze up, it's just very hard to read. From reading the first post it sounds like an os issue, but I just want to be sure.

When I removed the scsi zip drive and connected it later, sometimes the MPC has the "freeze" problem when I am trying to load from zip. The answer for the problem for me is to turn off the MPC, turn off the ZIP, turn on the ZIP and when I now turn on the mpc I can load from zip without probs.

I was leaning towards a file issue, but now my problem is that the bad file is my os. I don't suppose I could float someone some loot for a copy of os 1.72 on a zip. I've tried to do it off my computer, but seems like the MPC and the mac don't see eye to eye.
