....well, if these damned usb controlers would only have such a thing like physical midi...

....most of them don't....

so the only way to play mpc sounds with a keyboard like this, is through a daw on your computer that ends up with a real midi interface....

Check the manual for the details.

How do you connect a USB port to anything with a MIDI cable, I don't understand?

Maybe you need to check the manual for the details!

What MPC model is it?

If a legacy/hardware MPC, then you can't directly connect it.

If a MPC Renaissance or Studio, then you would connect it via USB to the computer.

Not correct, that is not the only way.

If it is a class compliant USB MIDI device, which the Oxygen25 is, you can use a USB MIDI Host box like these to bridge the USB-MIDI to MIDI...

C'mon, you're serious?

I was pointing the guy into a certain direction from which he can find it out for himself.

You're enjoying it a little bit too much to tell somebody they are wrong.

You still have not told us which MPC you are using.

Which MPC are you using?

Yeah I am serious.

WTF is he going to do with a MIDI cable, when his keyboard only has a USB port?

That is just useless and confusing information to be giving someone.

OK, so you connect the Oxygen25 keyboard to the computer via USB.

If using a Mac, since it is a class compliant device, it would not need drivers. No idea if it needs drivers for Windows, you would have to check the website.

Then you possibly have to select it as an Active Midi Input in the MPC software Preferences/Midi. Not sure if it shows up there and works automatically, or if it has to be selected.

The MPC Studio also has a MIDI in and out on 1/8" TRS jacks, used with adapters to connect to normal 5-pin DIN MIDI cables, but they will not work with your Oxygen25 USB-MIDI keyboard since it has no MIDI connectors.

But, if you bought an Akai MPK49 as well, that can either be connected to the computer via USB, or to the MPC Studio MIDI in port via a 5 pin MIDI cable and a 1/8" TRS to MIDI adapter.

Midi/ usb adapter...

It's the half part of the story I gave him thinking he could connect the rest of the dots himself.

But seriously Simon, it's ok for you if you think my answer is wrong. I don't even mind you're saying something about it. But don't come to me with that attitude when you say stuff like that like you are 'mister know it all' and everybody else who has another answer is a complete idiot like with that 'ghost triggering/notes' thread.

You tell him to use a MIDI cable to connect a USB-only keyboard to his MPC, an answer like that makes me think you are a complete idiot.

Put some thought into your answers so they actually help and relate to the question being asked.

ok, maybe the way I wrote it down was a bit misleading this time in this thread. I was trying to say that he could connect those two with a cable directly, and if he would refer to both manuals that it would become quite clear which cable he needs.

Anyway, it's not just this thread, I am also talking about that thread I was referring too. You approached me in the same manner while I was right all along. And even if I wasn't right in that thread it still isn't a reason to approach people like that.

But whatever man. Seems like we can not get on the same page. Say and think whatever you want. I'm out.
