Hey guys,

im in the same boat. Im on 1.31 and i cant get midi sync out of it. So it seems there is a bug in this Version. When i use MPC as a plugin in Ableton with the Ren as my Interface, it send midi out just fine. But in Standalone there is no way it will send midi sync to my TT-303. So maybe i need to reinstall everything again.

Cheers

A fellow TT-303 user! Nice to meet you. Check out Coz's local thread on the 303: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=164910

Not that I am glad you are having this issue, but at least it comfirms I am not alone.

But it brings up another question: how is it that it has not happened to more people? Setting up my hardware synths was literally the first thing I did with the Ren out of the box and I discovered the issue in about 5 seconds flat. Surely other people are using the Ren with outboard synths and drum machines...

Anyway, I did reinstall to fix it.* My trick was to install 1.0, go to the "sync" menu (which was on the tool bar in the first version) and check the boxes that I wanted to sync (they dropped the boxes by 1.3.1) and then install 1.3.1. Sounds crazy, but it felt as if the 1.3.1 update didn't acknowledge that I actually wanted to send clock and that doing it in the 1.0 updated a preference file someplace. But it could also all be in my mind. Anyway, please let us know how it turned out, as there seems to be a bug in the mix here.

*Note that my DAW was due for a clean OS reinstall, so I actually wiped the DAW and then reinstalled all of my apps and drivers fresh, starting w/ the Ren. This was a royal pain in the ass and perhaps overkill... but it did get me full clock out on two ports at least (Akai: please add clock on all four ports! Signed - everyone who has more than two pieces of hardware in their rig).

It appears most Ren/Studio users here lean on plugins versus hardware. Not many are slaving external gear to the Ren.

Nice to meet you son of the Acid

Nice to meet you too... and thanks for posting that video. I have not seen that in forever... Aphex Twin is on another plane from the rest of it, and I am all the happier for it.

I will look into the sync issue. I am able to send MIDI sync from the Ren to an MPC 2500 appropriately.

I Agree
I have the mpc 5000 and mpc Ren, I'm trying to sync the mpc Ren to my mpc 5000 and it not working. I try sync the mpc Ren to my fantom g6 and it not working. I'm using 1.3.1 this is something they need to look into.

Bandwagon - Why do I have an Innerclock Sync Gen if midi clock isnt important to me. If I didnt have a Sync Gen I would absolutely need the Ren to send clock on all midi outs. The OP needs it - the Ren should be able to do it.

Speaking of which, how can i slave my MPC Studio & Macbook Air to a Pro Tools Rig?

As of 1.3.1, you must use the MPC RTAS. The standalone app can't be slaved. Or export your Studio tracks and import into Pro Tools.

FYI - I officially hit up Akai for this as a feature request. I guess everyone needs a pet issue, so clock out on all four MIDI ports is mine. I will bump this thread with updates, but feel free to continue to contribute as I can't imagine I am the only one that would like to see all four ports have clock out (as I know I am not the only one who uses the Ren w/ hardware synths and drum machines!). I specifically pointed Akai support to this thread for whatever that is worth, so voice your support for this request if it impacts your workflow.

Peace - JTR

I also tried slaving ren to my MPC 5000 but then later eventually found out ren does not slave midi clock, so then i tried slaving my hardware to the Ren but still no sync. I just found this thread today so when I get home I will do reinstall, check off approperitely in 1.0 then update back to 1.3. This is really insane we have to go threw this as i believe it should not be the case at 1299 for a controller, Akai better act fastl

I'm 100% Pro, because I'm in for the long haul with the Ren wich I really love then I could need that if I Invest in Hardware stuffs. And again, If 2500 and 5000 does.. the REN must doing that to.

As of 1.3.1, the Ren doesn't slave to MIDI sync. It is in the manual. But it is a confirmed 1.4 feature.
