If I'm not mistaken, that appears to be a Styleflip skin design, if so you could peel it off, but what lies beneath???

Doesn't the final SP have discrete filters in it, replicating the SSM chips?
I always wondered how they sounded.
I was expecting it to sell for less than other SP1200's but it's gone for a lot more.
What's the scoop?

I've seen a bit of info online about the final edition machines not having SSM filters and being a different model (7031 as opposed to 7030).
I've got number 56 of the last 125 made in March 1998 and it's a 7030 with SSM's inside.

Maybe they got a hold of a batch of SSM chips to enable this final run, after running out of SSMs and using discrete filters for previous late runs, the SP1200 book probably has more info.


It sold for a lot more because of the gold plate.

Even with input from the E-mu team, there are key areas where no definitive answers were forthcoming or available. If you buy the book, you may still have unanswered questions after reading it. Yes Dave Rossum did provide some insight and anecdotal evidence, but to call it the 'Official SP1200 Book' is reaching quite a bit. Can't have hurt the book sales though.

The one with the gold plaque looked in great condition, and also had some provenance with it being the 'Final Edition' model.

That's the one I'd go for if I was in the market for one.

"This actual unit is no.89 of 150, and it´s been built in March 1998."

on the plaq above it says xx of 125 yet auction guy says his plaq reads of 150?

whats the story there?

that whole ad sounds like a con-artist to me... no actual pics of a piece of gear that expensive? AND he's got the serial number range wrong?... i wouldn't have risked it. if you want me to pay for something that price you better show me some actual pics...

It looks more likely that the Berlin listing jacked the UK listing's pictures, then copied the mistake of 'xx of 150'.

I doubt that as the berlin one predates the ebay one.

however there may be fake "final edition" faceplates going around as the both seem to state xx of 150 yet the picture of the unit shows xx of 125.

what is the actual final run figure 150 or 125?
