Just a note, gentleman, try to look at pictures of the drive bay converter and/or find an alternative. The one on my list has tabs on either side that stick out past the hard drive, so you should either cut or bend one of them (the left one) to fit the IDE to SATA adapter flush to the hard drive. I hope that makes sense.

Yes, I did the same. I just took a pair of heavy pliers and bent them back and forth to break off the corner. Remember to grind down the sharp edges.

That looks good to me (as far as I can tell from looking at the one I bought and that one on amazon). It also looks like it might not need any modification to fit the IDE/SATA adapter to the front of the SSD, which is nice. If I remember, the 3.5" to 2.5" drive bay adapter I used fit the footprint of the original IBM deskstar 3.5" drive, so you mount the ssd inside the adapter then mount the whole thing where the old drive used to go. Getting the ribbon cable to attach to the adapter is the tough part, be careful. I had to sort of twist it to make it fit. Scary.

Has anyone tried reinstalling the stock hard drive after installing an SSD in their MPC4000? I find the MPC4000 does not recognize the stock hard drive.

Just so everyone knows, the Thermaltake 3.5 to 2.5 converter doesn't work because there's no way to screw it on to the original drive mount. The way the Thermaltake works is that you slide it into your drive bay of your computer. No screw mounts on the bottom of the unit.

I wish I had known this before I bought it...

Give it up for zip ties!
