Did you try it with termination power off?

Termination power should be supplied by the MPC, unless the SCSI fuse is blown.

Really?
Why?
I'm powering all three of my external Acard + CF Readers with one power supply anyway. I thought that external power was a good way to do it.

It is nothing to do with external power supplies.

The MPC SCSI connector has power on one of the pins to provide power to active SCSI terminators in external SCSI devices, and to the MPC internal active SCSI terminators.

This MPC SCSI termination power circuit is protected by a small PCB mount fuse, which is often blown when the SCSI cable is hot swapped, due to the SCSI termination power pin in the plug being shorted to ground.

If the MPC SCSI termination fuse is not blown, and the Acard SCSI termination power is set to on, then they both will be providing power to the same circuit.

Not sure if it will hurt anything, but I would only set the Acard SCSI termination power to on if the MPC SCSI termination fuse was blown.

Maybe it's down to the CF cards you use.
This setup works with a Jessops 1GB, 1GB Kingston Ultimate 100X and a 1GB Lexar Premium 80X.

It doesn't work with a 1GB Kingston (flower on front) or a 512MB Sandisk.

the card thing is interesting - coz I don't use those cards with my normal 3.75 firmware Acard, normally I use SanDisk Extreme III or Ultra, and a few different lexars.

I'm gonna get one of the cards you are suggesting and do some tests, will post my results asap - if those work for me too that means the firmware variants of Acards DON'T all share the same compatibility of Flash Card.

@jimmie no worries it's just a little inconvenient dealing with PayPal Dispute correspondence. This is why I try to avoid PayPal for primary payments. It just slows down the process. It wasn't intentional on your part.

@mrdazobee I really appreciate your patience while we straighten out this matter. Again sorry for the inconvenience. Contact me by email if you have any additional concerns. I don't want to flood this thread with the PayPal issue anymore.

Update: 3 more cards are available. I have released some acards that were reserved but not paid/completed after 90 days.

Just tried a Lexar Premium 80s too, no luck with at either - but that one works with my 3.75 Acard no probs.

Time to get this card flashed to 3.75 it seems...

I've tried 3.45, 3.88, 3.89 and 6.89 with my Acard 7720U's and they all work fine for me with the cards I mentioned previously with the Delock 91640.

I'm not going to recommend the Lexar Premium 80X though because I've been using it with my S1000 and it has started to corrupt sample data. So, I will not be chancing it again with my mpc3000. I did do tests on it before usage and it had no errors..
EDIT: been testing it again with my MPC3000 and it's been working fine without corruption. Maybe it's just a problem with the S1000.

Let me also mention:
Check your cables.
At first I was using the Acard + delock internally, but when I took it external with a 1 metre DB25 scsi lead it was slower to load longer samples and it had trouble with a previously working CF card. I tried a different DB25 lead and it was back to being fast again and the CF card worked.
Both cables looked fine but only one works well.

checked cables - all I did was swap the a cards, and my 3.75 was working, and 3.45 wasn't.

was it a blue jesspos 1GB you were using?

Per forum member request, please test your acards with your hardware. No more acards will be for sale as of today...Until further notice.

Please post any compatibility issues or contact the manufacturer for any help.

Please be as detailed as possible and provide pics of your installations.

If you are in the UK, some have been shipped there so you can buy them direct without high postage. I will get you the contact info as soon as I find out more information. If you are in the US, I can direct you to some local suppliers.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I asked him to add the above post

I basically have the same setup as Jimmie (MPC3000, Delock, 3.5os, and even the same CF cards) but none of my new Acards from asichop work, at all... yet my old Acard works just fine with the same cables and drives etc etc I got hold of several from asichop, and not a single one is working for me - yet... I have not given up yet.

I have my tech in Birmingham looking into it, he has been trying to flash them, but they have serious issues and are not even being seen by his PC, even though he flashes Acards/IOData/PCD drives all the time with the same kit. He is a expert with CF drives and samplers and is getting a very disturbing lack of results from the Acards

My tech has emailed Acard direct to ask if maybe its mac bios causing the problem, or if they are f+cked for another reason.

I'll update this forum once I have more info. I'm VERY keen to get them working.

the fact that Jimmies's work means not all are faulty - I emailed Gertie, he never got round to testing his, he will asap.

IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD GOOD OR BAD RESULTS PLEASE POST EITHER WAY SO OTHERS KNOW WHAT THE SCORE IS

on a last note - asichop has been good communicator, I have no reason to believe he is dodgy, he has been very honest over email, and my order arrived very quickly - but I would not recommend a large order, get one and test it for yourself first maybe.

thanks for the post bro - doesn't help me with my specific problem, as mine are so faulty they can't even be read by a Adaptec SCSI connection that see's Acards/IOData/PCD with no effort.

my tech was up until the early hours trying to find a solution - none are working yet - he has a few other thing story. he's done this hundreds of times and has not come across this problem before.

Keep us posted. I have just enough spares to replace but I don't want to sell anymore on the forum or anywhere else until it is sorted out.

Even if you didn'tt from buy from me, please post your findings so everyone else benefits from the information.
