I watched this Teddy Riley video and got me wanting to switc

The age old arguement Mac vs. Windows. I converted to Mac about 4-5 yrs ago and went all the way in (everything in the house and lives is Apple). I am happy and loving it except for the fact that every now and the I can't get a plugin because it is only Windows. I could never understand but I always figured that I have lived this long without it so don't worry about it (that was my rational).

THEN I WATCHED THIS VIDEO (around 11:30) and I instantantly said "Yeah, he is right." It was one of those moments when someone says something that is never said but it so obvious that you just say......"uh, yeah that's true. I never heard it put like that." I am waaaay too invested to make the switch again but I think I have finally accepted the truth.

Yeah man, Macs are powerful computers but nowadays the PC is very capable and can outrun a mac.

Windows users have access to more plug-ins. That isnt enough to make me switch back to a PC, nowhere near enough. That's old news.

---> tough to watch. they spend so long trying to figure out what they are trying to demo. celeb demos are cool but they need to know that product inside out not just kinda familiar

-----> still a interesting watch once things get going. not too interested in a PC but presonus is doing some pretty cool stuff. that ADL 700 really has my attention too.

I've been running XP on my Mac without any issues for the past year. Both OS's open at the same time, no partitions etc. I've also got Cubase installed on both so I can run the occasional plugin that I've only got for Windows.

In saying that, I would have very few issues with buying another dedicated audio PC in the future. The fans drive me absolutely nuts on my MBP.

I come from a 'silent' audio PC, so yeah, the MBP's fans are a bit too schizo for me. I've had to ditch my big monitor I had hooked up to it because it required the second graphics chip to run it. Permanent hair dryer.

It's not ideal but I'm getting used to it now.

I'm on Pro Tools, but I definitely think that other DAW's are years ahead of Avid. If I didn't need to be able to swap sessions I would probably use something else. But I've already invested so much time into Pro Tools that I would only be taking a step backwards.

Also, my reasoning for using a Mac over PC: I've always used a Mac and it goes back to getting a workflow down and being comfortable. I'm willing to pay a bit extra to keep on going comfortably. I don't buy a new computer that often anyways. I am looking to get a Mac Pro when they update the towers, though (finally).
