So let's say I'm an artist that bought a beat from you and the version you originally sent me has 8 bar hooks but I need 4 bar hooks, but you're away from your home, say on a vacation for a week. But you have your laptop. You're telling me you'd rather have your Ren attached and have to wait to you get all the way back home possibly a week later, than to just be able to quickly make the change with just the software and send me the updated version? We all do small music related tasks, even while on vacation.

DJ Hellfire wrote:Nah, not yet. Just can't justify that extra $600 knowing that ill never use it to actually make beats with after using the Ren, just like I could never use a Mashine micro. I may get one in the future if I just have money laying around or if the price drops.

You are going on about how everyone does music related tasks while on vacation, the Studio would let you do that, and let you actually make some beats while doing it.

It seems to be selling at street prices of around $500 new, will have to be some second hand bargains around soon, if not already.

Thing is, I don't want to actually make beats on vacation because I don't want to carry anything extra. Sometimes I just want to listen to something im working on while getting dressed. And making beats outside of the studio isn't as inspiring, for me, unless I have nice speakers, like inside the car. I've grown to not like headphones much lately.

It's really simple, I get 4 legit installs with my purchase. I should be able to have audio without my hardware connected. Point blank. If a computer is running a non registered version without hardware, then yeah, no audio. But if my shit is registered and legit, I don't see the big deal.

I will hit the support for asking what happen if I just Upgrade my OS to x64, I think a windows Upgrade from x32 pro to x64pro will keep the registration.

Edit : upgrade from X32 to X64 are not possible, I must do a clean Install :) then I will loose a license Count.. Hourah... lol

I hardly use my Ren now, because of these software restrictions.

What software functions do you desire that would make the Ren more appealing to you?

Well, since this thread is about being able to use the MPC Software without the hardware, I would guess that is the software function that he desires.

I believe the software sold alone would be attractive for hardware MPCs users especially if it supports loading of legacy MPC programs, sounds, sequences, and songs.

You believe it, so it must be true.

This is among the most popular feature requests across forums for years. There have been plenty of feature requests for Akai to create a plugin version of the software to load MPC projects so we wouldn't have to multi-track hardware MPCs into DAWs and deal with the MIDI sync issues several MPCs have.

Use the Search function to find threads in these subforums with further discussion.

I hear you homie.

There is something just uncool about making a beat on a laptop.

It always sounds like little Wayne.

Who although being very cool,
isn't all that cool from a beat perspective.

What the computer is good for is the subtleties,
like prepping or mixdowns.

But should be kept away from the red meat of making beats.

How is making a beat on an MPC Studio connected to a laptop while on vacation any more uncool than making a beat on an MPC Renaissance connected to a laptop at home.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make.

Both the Renaissance and Studio require a computer, which are being discussed here, you can't use them without one.

Again, what point are you trying to make?

Han ! He didn´t mean making beat without a laptop but asking for tweaking his beats without the REN or the Studio. Without a +500$ Dongle... lol Just with the soft and a mouse without the ren attached....

1. Ability to edit and sort my sound libraries offline without the Ren being plugged in as a dongle.
2. The ability to open sessions for mix tweaks without the Ren being plugged in as a dongle.
3. Ability to use legacy MPC hardware as a basic controller for the Ren software..e.g tap out a beat on my MPC 3000 or 5000 and dump the contest into the Ren/Daw for mixing.
4. Ability to loop sections of a sequence and work on those bars in isolation as opposed to being restricted to only programming in patterns.

3. You can use your hardware MPC as a basic controller like any MIDI controller with the Ren/Studio. You can tap out or play a sequence beat on your hardware MPC and record it into the Ren/Studio software...or simply import it as a MIDI file.

4. You can loop sections of a sequence in isolation instead of programming in patterns. This is how I use the Ren as I an not fond of chaining sequences together. I discussed it briefly in this silly poll: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=165656
