monophonic mode....?

ive been reading the manual, but cannot find how to do one particular thing...

"its possible tostop the playing of a sound with another sound. used ti simulate the open closed effect of a hi hat"..


anyone know how do i go about doing this?

I use this feature a lot, using a tiny silent sample to cut off long sounds at different points exactly on the beat. It gives a much sharper result than trying to get the note length exact.
