No Jerome, you are wrong, using MIDI Regions within the one Pro Tools session is the same as the way the MPC sequencer works.

You are confused in thinking that changing from one sequence to the next in an MPC is the same as closing one Pro Tools session and opening another, that is just simply retarded.

Changing from one MPC sequence to another is the same as changing from one MIDI region to another in Pro Tools.

When you are working on an MPC, you have access to multiple sequences at once, to play directly from one sequence to the next, to string sequences together, this is the same as working with multiple MIDI regions within a single Pro Tools session, and they all share the same mixer channels and settings.

Sorry bro-ham. You are incorrect and rude (will address the latter later). A MIDI region is a 'clip' of events. It can be quickly inserted into a Pro Tools session. An MPC Sequence is not a clip by any stretch of the imagination. Its up to 128 Tracks with Program assignments, MIDI routing, etc. The equivalent to Pro Tools 'clips' in an MPC environment is the MPC 4000's Phrase library. You can string the 4000s phrases and insert them into any track within a sequence (or session)...exactly like Pro Tools. These phrases will share the same mixer channels and settings.

I was going to address your insults and rude comments...but it would be pointless as you are doing a fine job of making yourself looking silly.

Now this is what I was trying to pull out of you. Which specific DAW are you talking about? So in Pro Tools I can create multiple sessions and string them together? And when I make a change to the mixer it will be applied to all sessions?

In FL Studio you're able to make multiple patterns (sequences) and combine them in playlist / song mode. It only has one universal mixer.

You are so retarded Jerome, so retarded. Address my insults and rude comments as much as you like, I really don't care.

Your belief that you can not possibly be wrong makes your mind closed so that you can't see the real truth, you are ignorant.

The MPC is a multitrack MIDI sequencer.

Pro Tools can also be a multitrack MIDI sequencer, in exactly the same way, if you set it up like that.

You can setup Pro Tools to have the same number of MIDI tracks as the MPC.

A single sequence, on a single track, in the MPC sequencer, is the same as a single MIDI region on a single track in Pro Tools.

If you have 10 tracks in use in the MPC sequencer, this is the same as 10 MIDI tracks in Pro Tools.

If you have a two bar sequence in the MPC, which uses 10 tracks, this is exactly the same as a 10 tracks of vertically stacked 2 bar MIDI regions in Pro Tools.

Those 10 mixer tracks in Pro Tools keep the same settings if you change to a different stack of MIDI regions on those same 10 tracks.

This is what is going on in the MPC sequencer.

You do not close a Pro Tools session and open a new Pro Tools session when you want to change from one 2 bar sequence in your song to another 2 bar sequence in your song, because they are in the same session, just like in the MPC.

The only difference is that the area that is played back in the MPC is based on the timeline of the currently selected sequence, while the playback in Pro Tools is based on the timeline of the whole session.

How can that be? Jerome says it is not possible!

Yep, Jerome has no idea, blinded to the truth by the sun shining out his own ar se.

Carrying on about chaining together multiple Pro Tools sessions, WTF!

You are just upset because you are claiming Pro Tools 'clip' function is like MPC Sequences, and i am pointing out you are s wrong. It is exactly like the MPC 4000s phrase library.

Now, I clearly addressed the way Pro Tools, Cubase, and Logic works with their mixers. And I asked if there is a DAW that does what is being suggested. Finally, someone has came with a response that I will look into as soon as I get home.

As far as rude behavior, that typically occurs when someone (you) can't have a mature discussion. Grow up dude.

No, I am telling you that a sequence in the MPC is just the same as a MIDI region (or vertical stack of MIDI regions) in Pro Tools, and that the mixer in all DAWs operates as is being requested here.

If you setup Pro Tools with 128 MIDI tracks, so it is the same layout as the MPC sequencer, then changing from one two bar MIDI region (or stack of MIDI regions if more than one track is in use) to another, is exactly the same as changing from one sequence in the MPC to another.

The Pro Tools mixer does not change when you change between MIDI regions that use the same tracks.

You seem to think that changing between MPC sequences is the equivalent of changing from one Pro Tools session to another, that is just incorrect, it is the equivalent of changing between MIDI regions within the one single Pro Tools session.

This is an example of you trying to shut down other people's feature requests when you really don't understand the situation.

I am not going to continue this back and forth bullsh it with you, other forum members do not want to see page after page of our back and forth arguments.

So carry on with your cr ap about how no DAW has a mixer that keeps the same settings as you change sequences, because that really shows how ignorant and retarded you are.

It is not the same thing. Stacking a bunch of MIDI regions in a Pro Tools session is not the same as using a new sequence in an MPC. You go from a feature request to claiming the Ren is Pro Tools. :?

JAH wrote:It is not the same thing. Stacking a bunch of MIDI regions in a Pro Tools session is not the same as using a new sequence in an MPC.

It is exactly the same.

If you create a 2 bar sequence in the MPC, which uses 10 MPC tracks, that is the same as a 2 bars of stacked MIDI regions on 10 Pro Tools MIDI tracks.

On the MPC you have a 2 bar section that has 10 MIDI tracks (in use).

On Pro Tools you have a 2 bar section that has 10 MIDI tracks.

Exactly the same.

If your MPC is set to use Master mixer settings, then when you create a new sequence, it uses the same mixer settings for the new sequence.

If you create a new 2 bar set of stacked MIDI regions in the same Pro Tools session, using the same 10 tracks, then it uses exactly the same track mixer settings as the previous 2 bar set of stacked MIDI regions.

I am not saying that the MPC Software is Pro Tools.

I am saying that if you implement a similar sequencer setup and workflow in Pro Tools, to what you would use in the MPC, then the Pro Tools track mixer does not change settings between sequences/MIDI regions, you are claiming that this is not the case.

Now you are you repeating what I told you all along when I treat an MPC Sequence the same as a Pro Tools session. Your claim was that creating a second MPC sequence is like add clips in Pro Tools. It isn't. Clips in Pro Tools is the same as clips in the MPC 4000.

Go back and read through the conversation.

I am not repeating anything you told me (though I am repeating everything I am telling you).

That is not my claim.

You were saying that no DAW keeps the same track mixer settings when changing from sequence to sequence, which is what this feature request is all about...

JAH wrote:But to put this request in perspective...this would be a brand new feature that no other MPC can accomplish....and no DAW can accomplish.

JAH wrote:And when I wrote no DAW can accomplish this, I am referring to the fact that DAWs (Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase) can't open up multiple Sequences that share the same Track Mixer.

JAH wrote:What DAW are you talking about specifically? Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, etc? You can not open multiple sequences in these DAWs and they share the same mixer.

...I am simply saying that they all do.

I am trying to demonstrate with my MPC-Pro Tools comparison above, that all DAWs keep the same track mixer settings when changing between sequences.

You obviously can't see it, so forget it, I really don't care anymore.

1. A Sequence in the MPC Ren is equal to a 128 Track Pro Tools session. Creating another MPC Ren Sequence is equal to opening another 128 Track Pro Tools sessions. You can't link the Track Mixer of two Ren Sequences...and you can't link the Track Mixer of two Pro Tools sessions.

2. Pro Tools allows you to create MIDI clips. All your clips will be displayed in a Clip List. You can use these clips to build your session. The Ren does not have anything similar to this. But the MPC 4000 does. The MPC 4000 uses a Clip board and a Phrase library that can be used to build your sequence. The only thing the Ren allows you to do is copy and paste MIDI regions which can be used to build your sequence.

3. The Ren (and all MPCs) has a Song Mode. The Song Mode allows you to chain multiple sequences together to form a song. Once a Song is compiled in this manner, you convert in back into a sequence so that all tracks will now share the same Track Mixer. Pro Tools does not allow you to chain multiple sessions in this fashion. If you want to go back to talking Pro Tools can chain clips that use the same Track Mixer...then read #2 above as the MPC 4000 performs this same way which is not the same as Song Mode.

Conclusion - If Akai added MIDI Clipboard / Phrase library support, it will perform like Pro Tools. If Akai added a Track Mixer in which the Tracks of all Sequences are routed to, that will go well beyond what Pro Tools does.

The standard mixer model is a very important issue. It is a crucial function.

I was actually discussing implementation of the feature before ol boy started to make claims there were way off-base.

This specific feature request has been submitted to Akai and they are aware of your wants....which goes back to what I was trying to discuss earlier...actual implementation.

This is where you have it wrong, and is the source of your confusion.

A sequence in the MPC Software is equal to a 128 track stacked MIDI region within a Pro Tools session.

Creating another MPC Software sequence is equal to creating another 128 track stacked MIDI region within the same Pro Tools session as the first.

You can't link the Track Mixer of two MPC Software Sequences because they have not provided a Master/Sequence/Program type option, like previous MPC mixers do, and that is what is being requested in this thread.

You can't link the Track Mixer of two Pro Tools sessions because you don't have to, the sequences that you are changing between are within the one/single/same Pro Tools session.

A Pro Tools session is equivalent to an MPC Software Project, not an MPC Sequence.

This feature request is asking for a Main/Sequence/Program setting for Main Mode, not Song Mode.

Just like Song Mode, using the same Track Mixer settings for all sequences, but a choice to use the same thing in Main Mode when switching from sequence to sequence.

Previous MPCs have this option for their mixers, the feature request is asking for the option in the MPC Software Track Mixer.

JAH wrote:Pro Tools does not allow you to chain multiple sessions in this fashion.

Because you are not chaining multiple sessions in Pro Tools, just like you are not chaining multiple projects in the MPC Software.

A Pro Tools Session is the equivalent of an MPC Software Project.

Conclusion - You don't know WTF you are talking about.
