MPC 300 | extrenal SCSI HDD how to backup to Mac

hi folks,

i have a small problem, which is that my external HDD is currently full and i want to transfer the data to my mac and than erase the harddisk. i have no cash to buy a new hdd.
i am working with the 3k and valix 3.50.
any one a solution??? would be great.

Find someone with a SCSI enabled computer, back up the HD, and then transfer your backed up data to your Mac using any number of solid state or cloud based methods.

i think this will be quite hard today. to nbe honest, i was looking for some USB solution... like a scsi usb adapter...

Well you have a SCSI HD, so you knew it was only a matter of time before it became full. You might get lucky and find a SCSI to USB convertor on eBay, but even they can be unreliable.

Time to upgrade to a CF reader if you don't want this problem to repeat itself overand over again.

Where can you even find "new" SCSI hard drives that will work with the 3000/60 ?

Thousands of used SCSI hard drives and other hardware still going strong, to be found in SCSI graveyard that is eBay.

Also you can try a USB floppy emulator

Not dure I'd trust second hand HD's.
In PC's I find old drives are fine until one deletes large volumes of data that have been stored for long periods of time. I've had loads die.I'd be a bit paranoid keeping my samples/sequences on one.

Sounds like you have painted yourself into a corner.

Only want to use new SCSI HDs, which are not available new, looks like you are sh!t out of luck.

Precisely what you intend to do with your old SCSI HD if you get it backed up.

Well spotted. Let me eat my words.

If you can, back your SCSI HD to a PC instead of a Mac. It'll elevate all those annoying hidden mac files (._.Trashes, .Trashes, .DS_Store, ._*.icns) that will end up as alias' along with your MPC3000 files.

There are Mac apps that delete these files but I don't know if they work on SCSI drives...
