Did you forward your findings/report/vid through proper channels and Numark/Akai?

Lampdog wrote:That video was horrible, those qlinks are a main feature and that shouldn't be happening like at all.

Airyck wrote:I know exactly what it is. The QLINK's have 128 discreet steps. The filter range is probably about 20hz to 20khz. If you divide that range by 128 you get something like 156hz steps. So each position in the knob causes the filter to jump 156hz skipping over all of the frequencies in that range. For example if you had the filter cutoff set at 100hz and you move one step up with the QLINK it would cause the filter to jump to 256hz skipping all the frequencies between 100hz and 256hz.
What normally is done is called controller smoothing. When the knob says hey jump up 156hz from here the smoothing causes the filter to smoothly travel through all 156hz of that step up to the next position. So it sounds smooth and doesn't move in jumps or steps (hence stepping)
.
this is not only interesting, much more!!! crossings wrote:..that goes without saying... but someone needs to point out the obvious here.

I think you will be happy with the next update.
