I really cannot say without looking at the machine to determine the problem. I can give you some prices:

rubber pad: $30
Electronic sensor under pads: $200+
Labor: $40+/hour

here is the link for it on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2545142408&category=38069&rd=1

and i emailed the guy and he just said the same things that are in the item description and said he doesn't know much about them to tell whats totally wrong. So are there any questions i should ask or anything, cuz i really wanna get a MPC but i dont have too much cash to spend on one, plus im in Canada and musical equipment is generally more expensive here, so i wanna get a MPC of ebay or somewhere thats cheaper.

mate, if you're desperate for one it might sound tempting. If the guy is unspecific about the faults then be prepared for an unspecific quote for repair. Also, as someone pointed out it might take ages to get it fixed as well.

If it was damaged in transit that means someone probably played football (soccer) with it.... Transit is a bad thing and you never know what people do with your gear.

I think the thing is just a bit dodgy. By the way, who's fault is it if there is gonna be more transit damage when the guy sends it to you???

dude, it has been EIGHT MONTHS and i still don't have my MPCs! I sent them to a service center in November. Akai has chaged it's location/parts distributor twice, and now the website has changed again! I've almost given up hope. Do not buy a broken one if you want to play it this year.

hmm, thanks. I might end up buying that one since I can fix it (and have the parts here).

Cmon man, if u already got one let others try and get one, like me :)
But what do u think it will take to fix it?

I could not give anything close to an estimate without checking out the machine myself, especially since they did mention `multiple problems` in addition to some pads not working. That could be anything.
