That "silly poll" conclusively backed up how people like to work on the MPC.

Not relevant as we are free to choose anyway we like to work with MPCs. The only thing that poll shows is that we have forum members that obviously don't mix and compose at the same time.

Note that the individual I was responding to doesn't like what the silly poll conclusively backed up.

To try and prevent you from forcing feature requests to your way of thinking/working.

Pretty silly that they are needed in the first place, due to your relentless debate of any feature request that you do not understand and/or agree with.

I have a 5k and would love an option to open my projects in the mpc software and take advantage of daw integration. But I'm not buying a $600 studio to do it. I considered it briefly, but cant justify it. Especially when I wouldn't use it for making tracks.

I think akai is missing a golden revenue opportunity here. There is an entire hardware-based community that they aren't earning any additional revenue from. They already have the software developed. By introducing an option for hardware-based users to invest in the software can only increase the return on their investment.

Here is what I think this next generation line up should be:

Option 1: MPC Renaissance - $1300 for users that want to jump all the way into the next generation

Option 2: MPC Studio - $600 for users that want to jump into the next generation but with less cost

Option 3: MPC Software - $200 for users that want the advantages of the next generation software but still want to use their legacy hardware. Not as a controller. But to be able to mix, and tweak in the mpc software, and integrate with a DAW, use plugs, etc.

Option 3 could have any one of the common protection modes. Heck even ilok so you'd still have a form of "dongle" like the ren and studio are.

If Akai has ever thought about how to continue earning revenue from their legacy MPC products, option 3 seems logical. Lots of people are buying second hand MPCs. And if they are buying the new MPC software to track in modern DAWs, there comes more revenue to akai. And again, the software is already developed. It seems like a no-brainer to introduce an option 3 in the near future. If not, just seems like a lost revenue opportunity, and short-sightedness on akai's part. Like someone else said in this thread, I also believe it would sell like hotcakes.

There's probably only a couple things happening here. a) akai leadership doesn't understand, or believe in this revenue opportunity, or b) they are waiting to introduce an option like #3 until after the initial wave of early adopters subsides. Else they could canabalize ren and studio sales. I imagine they are even getting some converts to the ren or studio that probably wouldn't have made the investment had option 3 been available from the start. Either way, when there is an option 3 available I'm all over it.

Very relevant.

The Ren doesn't cater to the way 90+% of users like to work.

You keep repeating the same misleading information. When it comes to chaining multiple sequences together in Song Mode, the Ren/Studio performs exactly like the MPC 1000, 2000, 2000XL, 2500, 4000, etc. This work flow is intact for the 90+ you claim that wants it.

The mixer is the issue in the Ren and you know this. That's why you've suddenly become a huge advocate of working in a linear fashion, when MPCs just don't excel with that workflow.

The poll was about pattern and linear sequencing last time i checked. You choose pattern and I choose linear. I haven't suddenly done anything....I have always sequenced linear.

The Ren's Mixer is exactly like the MPCs mentioned above. So if you have a problem with the Ren's Mixer, you have a problem with all MPCs.

The mixer in any standalone MPC is rudimentary. If the developers have copied an old design from the 80s then something is obviously not right.

There's numerous threads about how the Ren's mixer doesn't accommodate how people want to work if you need to do some research.

Rudimentary....archaic....etc., but that is the way it is currently designed just like hardware MPCs. I did my 'research.' Then I purchased an MPC Studio.

3. You can use your hardware MPC as a basic controller like any MIDI controller with the Ren/Studio. You can tap out or play a sequence beat on your hardware MPC and record it into the Ren/Studio software...or simply import it as a MIDI file.

4. You can loop sections of a sequence in isolation instead of programming in patterns. This is how I use the Ren as I an not fond of chaining sequences together. I discussed it briefly in this silly poll: viewtopic.php?

3. I mean without the Ren being attached as a dongle.

4. Good looking on that one

No, they want to be able to chain together sequences in main mode, not song mode, and not have the track mixer changing settings when they do.

NOT SONG MODE FFS!

You keep repeating the same misunderstood information.

Where is the option to have the track mixer settings follow a Master/Sequence/Program setting?

That is the feature, from hardware MPCs, that users want.

It is not there.

Stop debating it because you only work in a single sequence FFS!

Like he said, without a Renaissance or Studio attached.

And, not necessarily as a basic controller.

JJOS allows the MPC1000/2500 front panel controls to send MIDI messages.

The Renaissance and Studio are just sending MIDI messages.

You should be able to use the majority of the MPC1000/2500 buttons instead of the Renaissance/Studio buttons, for close to full functionality.
