Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By dos1beats Mon May 06, 2013 5:49 pm
I just made the switch to the mpc2xl from maschine. . . I read the manual through and through three times already and I still havent found whats going on. If I dont hit the pad right in the center, it will double tap. Is this a standard function on the mpc? Is it a program that doing that? Are my pad sensors shot? Can you please help me. . . Link me to a thread or something. Thank you

it takes a little while to get used to the mpc pads when you're new... it's essentially because your finger hits the pads.. and if you dont remove it off the pad quickly it makes it bounce back onto the sensor... and on the corners of the pads it's really noticeable..

I suggest you try and master that so you can do it on command..

Hit the pad and get your fingers the **** up off of it quickly.
You'll never have this problem again when you get used to that.

The classic double tap. I guess everyone encountered the same issue when using the 2Kxl the first couple of times. You get used to it though.

i found an older post by peterpiper that mentions how...

There is a parameter called "Velocity -> Level" that will set how strong the velocity will affect the volume. This need to be changed for each pad.

Where is it??
Here:
...Shift & 6 to get into the program
...F2 (PARAM)
...bring the cursor to one of the envelope parameters (attack, decay or decay mode)
...Hit "open window"
...Hit the pad you want to adjust
...change the number at the "Velo> Level". 0 = Velocity wont affect the Level which is the same as full level but just for this pad. 100 = full sensitivity of this pad

I recommend to set all pads and save that program as a template that load after booting the 2000 (xl)

peace

I'm surprised that you didn't experience this with Maschine to begin with as well. From what I gathered, this kind of thing was a result of the user being a newbie and not the MPC pads.

this can be avoided by hitting the pad with index and middle finger together at once instead of with only one finger

Man what's crazy is if you set your quantize to 1/32 those double and triple triggering pads can create some interesting rhythms.
