After it first did it with using the same sample, on the same track, I then tried the same sample on different tracks, then made sample copies within the MPC for each pad, and tried that as well, with the same results.

thanks for this!

OK guys, thanks for all your help!
I still want to find out if my MPC3K LE is in trouble, or if that is
the way OS3.11 was intended to be, or if it is a bug.
Next I week I will check out different OS EPROM chips and hope to close this case.
But when I read that Simon experiences the same issue under Valixi, I have to doubt that.

Here are my latest news:
and I no longer suspect my Hardware, but an OS software problem.

Problem 1:
added distorted flag to a sampled sound on Output 7
I opened my MPC, checked DAC, connections, put boards in & out..
everything looks fine.
Distorted flag did not go away!
Still in trouble.

Problem 2:
Outputs 1-10 every single Output plays out later & later

situation 1)
same Rimshot snd/sample, on 10 different tracks
if i "solo" the snd I want to rec to DAW, everything is tight & on the grid!
so in "Solo-mode" recording every single track in my pattern works fine.
only if I try to rec all drumtracks at once at the same time, the outputs send out off the grid.

situation 2)
I sample a sharp Rimshot 10 times, place these different samples on 10 different pads and record on 10 different tracks:
Same problem within this recording situation, only if I solo a single track, that track is on the grid,
as soon as I release the "Solo-button", it is off the grid.

So if I want a pattern recorded real tight, I have to "solo" every single track and rec to DAW.
Also works if I mute all drumtacks I do not want to record. If I un-mute only one other drumtrack, it is off again.

Here it only appears with drumtracks,
Midi Instruments sequenced on my MPC show no effect.

case closed!
I tested an Mpc 2000 today, and experienced the same.
so I guess it is "normal".

When it comes to tracking to DAW,
I will solo & track every single drumtrack individually.

Thanks for your support with that really neardy thread!

Just came back to this thread.

Strange this behaviour hasn't been reported before (to my knowledge), got me wondering now how the MPC60 and other MPC's stack up in this respect... Must be a huge relief to know this problem isn't confined to only your machine jeremiah.

Could be a timing inaccuracy inherent to the MPC design, something like the way the CPU processes and outputs simultaneous events, and also possibly an alternative source, other than swing, for the mythical MPC sequencer timing/feel.

In my case its a 2000(classic) distorting the outputs...

Main L/R are fine... digital IN is fine.
what is NOT fine is the digital output( sends clock, but zero audio) and analog outputs 5 & 8 intermittently distorted with 7 being totally dead. Ive pulled the board, seeing zero obvious damage measured the voltage regulators outputs, put every output playing a 1kHz sine into my ocilloscope, and spent hours trying to research the issue.... all 8 analog outs can go twist for all i care.... i want the SPDIF working!!! I know which chips run the analog section... 2 opamps and the PCM D/A chip, along with associated external components... what im not sure of is which chip(s?) to try and test on the digital side.

When i plug the SPDIF jack directly into my scope, i get the clock signal, and what looks like a shadow or reflected image whenever i trigger that same sampled sine wave. I havent checked to see what the SPDIF output of my computer does, but i imagine its similar.

Before you ask: YES, ive tested the cable and SPDIF input to the computer from another source, and it passed audio just fine!

@ jimmyklane

Sounds like you have a different issue and a different machine to the OP. Maybe you should start a thread in the MPC2000 forum if you're looking for help. This forum is specifically for the MPC60/3000, but you'll get just as much advice from MPC2000/XL users.

I've never had this problem because I've always tracked out using the solo'ing and recording single tracks at a time method.

But I wanted to get a protools 002 rack so that I can use the 8 individual outs to track, does this mean if I do that I will get these cumulative 70 sample delays? And to track out your beat exactly like it is in the 3000 you can only solo tracks or mute all other tracks and record 1 track at a time?

Just wanna make sure I'm following you guys right

Well its something the majority of people have never had issues with or noticed over the past 20 years, so I wouldn't let it deter you from using the 8 outputs. Consider it something to look out for and be aware of if you experience output delays like the OP.

I suppose once we have more testing and feedback from various MPC models we'll be in a better position to generalise. We'll have to devise a 'litmus test' of our own to firmly put this issue beyond dispute.
