Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

My question is how do I program change with an XL? Ive never done it before and its quite confusing.....

I have a Virus Rack with a Mulit Program I have setup with 8 channels and a different sound on each channel. I want to change to a New Multi when I press the Next Sequence Key or Press the Pad assigned to that sequence, so that the new multi sounds are played.

If I insert a program change event. Does it have to be on a seperate Track?

Should I put it at the end of the sequence....or at the begining....????

any help thanks guys.

No...
You can actually insert a program change in the same track as the midi data of the track. And usually it is best to put all init midi data (as program changes and bank select) at the beginning of the track.

Yep, There is a handy little reference on Program Changes on MPC-TUTOR

Apparently you can simply add it to the track properties of the Main Screen and not in a MIDI track. If this is so I am totally stoked....

My only worry is that when changing sequences there is gonna be a delay from when the New MULTI on my VIRUS RACK loads and when it is able to play sounds...I need to do these changes 'cause I like to multi layer the VIRUS so it sounds really rich and dreamy....the only problem being I run out of Polyphony really quickly and want to have big dreamy sound scapes in the middle of my songs....

I was hoping there might of been some one out there who has a virus and has tried this??????????????

Im gonna try it and nut it out then I will post to anyone interested how well this works....
