Can I play a sample from my Mpc using a midi keyboard?

Hello everybody, my question is easy: if I connect my keyboard to my Mpc by Midi, can I play a sound that I have in my Mpc using the keyboard? Can I use my keyboard like the 16levels function of the Mpc?

Yes, you can play a chosen sample across a 64-note chromatic scale.

Thanks for the information, I've red the manual but it isn't very clear about this function, for example I've never red about playing a sample across the keyboard in the manual at the Chapter 9 (Using the Mpc1000 with external devices). So, please, tell me the way to play a sample of the Mpc with an external keyboard. Thanks.

I have not yet tried to link the Mpc to the keyboard, but I've looked in the forum and someone spoke about auto-chromatic function and other programs to play the samples chromatic from the keyboard.

First of all, to know how to connect your controller to your MPC, refer to your MPC manual.

Also, in the MPC manual, it says:

"For more information about the setting of your MIDI keyboard’s local control, see the keyboard’s operation manual."

I know nothing about your Yamaha controller, but you should be able to find what you are looking for if you take the time to read its manual.

Here, on my Axiom Pro 49, i have to go to EDIT, MIDI and there i can choose between "USB panic" (meaning it sends USB info to my DAW/softwares) or "Kbd panic" (meaning it sends MIDI info to another hardware, my MPC in this case).

Here i use a MPC2500 running JJosXL Ver. 3.31. To play a sample across a 64-note chromatic scale, go in "PROGRAM" and where it says (DRUM) on top of the screen, simply change it to (INST). That's it.

In my Mpc I can change DRUM with MIDI. I'll check the manual of my keyboard, but I have another question: I need to link the Mpc and the keyboard with two midi cables or I need only one?

DRUM track is for mpc internal sounds.

MIDI/INST track is when external kybd is midi connected.
