By GoofyGutt Sun May 19, 2013 6:58 pm
1) Join the MPC-Forums.com Beat Battles Group on SoundCloud: http://soundcloud.com/groups/mpc-forums ... at-battles
2) Upload the beat to your own soundcloud page - please make it downloadable
3) Make sure it includes the battle number in the title - i.e. BB#35. If it doesn't we might think it's a random spam beat and delete it
4) Share the beat with the forum group via the 'share to group' button
5) Outside synths and other plugins allowed
6) Scratches allowed
7) Original samples in the chosen beat must be present/audible

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little different one this time:

Re-mix a classic!

Choose ONE beat of your liking, download its original samples and re-mix it.
You may give it your own touch and feel, and re-arrange it to your liking, add scratching, synths etc.

Use what you´ve got.

Best re-mix (most votes actually) wins!

Here are your 3 choices and their samples (collected in a zip file):

1. Mobb Deep - Shook Ones pt.2 (Havoc)

Updated the rules so its a little more clear;

Re-mix it with what you´ve got, if you want you can give it your own touch and feel, you might also re-arrange it if you want.
Scratches allowed.

good idea, but like a few others here, i'm still confused as to what to be listening for when JUDGING... i mean is the point to make it sound as close as possible to the original song [almost identical] or to just use the same samples and make something completely different? because people need to know from the start in order to submit accordingly... if not the votes are gonna be all over the place if no one knows what they're supposed to be ranking by...

you´re right, I was a little unclear, and I guess "Re-mix" is more the right word, and not "Re-make" as I wrote all over the place, as "Re-make" would actually mean to copy the original and make it sound exactly the same, and all submitted beats would sound more or less the exact same, not so cool.

Re-mix the beat based on the original samples, give it your touch and feel, re-arrange it, add scratches/synths etc. as you see fit, but the samples from the original beat most be present and audible in your version.

Will update the original post so that the rules are a little more clear to everybody.

^ - Naturally presumed you meant make your own with the same samples. Was thinking it would have been nice to only have 1 choice, gonna have to do 3 beats now and pick the best. Going to be a busy couple weeks.
