Hi
Im new on this site, so i hope i do everything right when posting this.
See i got my mpc5000 and rockin it, made one super cool beat yesterday, but to my surprise all was gone when i loaded it today :'(
I must have forgot the files somewhere, I really couldn't find it at all!
Its very hard to find anything in this mess of files in my opinion.
So I figured to connect it with my mac to get a better overview on whats going on.
So I "cleaned" up my HD files and made neat folders for everything for easy finding.
Like so: ROOT/LIBRARY/WORKING SEQ/ and so on. Now I got it the way I want, so I easy could load any project I want and listen too when I want very easy.
BUT
Now when I turn on the mpc5000 now and try to load anything, I just get an error saying: "ERROR (HD) BAD DOTDOT DIRECTORY"
This is very frustrating since I've been getting this all day for like 8 hours figuring out what to do. Ive been searching like crazy on google and I found this forum!
I also found a forum thread someone explaining exactly the same issue.
Members of the forum replied that the issue is the bitrate is wrong and it should be 16 (or 24 on mpc5000) and should backup the files, format HD with new OS and copy/paste the files back inn.
This is to my opinion the hard way around to getting it to work properly, i mean...
it should be a lot easier since this is the "Beast" in the akai world right?
And this is the weird part, the bitrate is still the same, I've double checked every file i cannot find in the mpc on the mac, and every file is still the same as when i got it. (16bit 44100) Nothing is changed, still i cannot find them!
I even got this software to covert the bitrate, witch was of no use since its already is 16bit files...
SO
When i move folders and files, do they get corrupted that easy? do they somehow get unreadable when i touch them in my mac OS? I'm really clueless you guys on what to do! I can't Format either, because i need an CF card (It says in the user manual) witch i didn't get with the mpc at all when i bought it.
Now I'm really stuck, can't do anything because all my files are corrupted and i can't format either, unless i get the CF card with i would need to go buy. zzzzz
Is there really no way to format the HD without the CF card? or better yet, get the files working like its suppose to?
Im sorry if my English issnt that well understood, since I'm no Englishman but
please help me you guys, i almost gonna fell a tear :'(
