Thoughts on a "multi" "parts" "Programs" video

You know what - I finally just twigged that "Ak.Sys" is meant to be pronounced as a pun on "axis".
Up until now, I'd always been saying "Ak dot Sys"

Don't trip...I was pronouncing it with letters that didn't even exist.
I was saying "akai sys"

I never even thought about how it might be pronounced.

Good video Ian. You went off-piste a few times but as long as you covered what you wanted to cover, that's what matters.

@ COZ, I am still learning video techniques. Too much to ask me to learn video and the MPC at the same time. I still have the master file so let me know what needs editing out. Less is more.

Half the problem is that I don't know Scheiße...lol. So I might not be the best at getting into the guts of the usage.

The mod matrix video is really going to be tricky. I can just hear criticism already and I haven't even made it yet.

Looking at multis the way feline explained it, and the way you did in the video, makes sense and although I look at them the same at the end of the process, at the the beginning of the process, I look at them differently.

I first learned about multis/programs/etc. from my days of using the MPC 3000 and the s5000/s6000. At that time, I was using the 3000 for drums and the s5/s6 as a phrase sampler and synth/rompler. When I got the 4000, I envisioned the unit as the 3000 with the s6000 inside of it (it's actually a z8 but you get the point). Now with that said, I look at multis as a rack sampler/rompler/synth INSIDE the MPC instead of outside, like an s5/s6/z8. So with that being said, if you wanted to, depending on how you use the 4K/what type of music you make, you could load up a multi in the 4000 with however many instruments, samples, sounds, etc., you want as programs in a multi (up to 128 in one multi, and you can have multiple multis) and treat it like a rack in the unit. So if you've used a rack unit and you've scrolled through patches/presets/kits/instruments/etc., it's the same principal INSIDE the 4000. How you go from there, is up to you.

I concur, great video, thanks Ian.

I actually kind of like how it looks like an old tube TV and you sound like you're in a school auditorium. I'm serious on enjoying the "retro" feel. More seriously though, again, great video, and you always present things really clearly, so honestly you could flick up post it notes and I'd be happy.
