How exactly do I get the knobs from an external controller or synth(that transmits midi) to toggle the knobs on the screen of the MPC 4000 when in the Program EDIT pages.

Or is it the case that it doesn't receive midi sysex messages when in that screen?
Trying to get my Vsynth knobs to control the parameters in the MPC4000 in the PROGRAM EDIT screens...like the cutoff, resonance, ADSR. Maybe all of those knobs aren't sending midi in the first place.

I tried doing some tweaking and I noticed that only the volume would change.

Anyone successfully manipulating the MPC from another device. Also am I wrong that the qlinks even when set to say Cutoff do not change the value once in the PROGRAM EDIT screen (You don't see the cutoff value changing in real time)?

cheers,
Ian

Ian,if you set the monitor(top right in program edit screen) from program to multi you can tweek the filter ect in real time. You can also change this in other screens.

This is useful in a lot of different situations when you are trying to hear different pieces of a song. You can change the monitor to MULTI, PROGRAM, and SAMPLE depending on what you are trying to hear/tweak.

Hi all,
I tried it and there are two things to note.

1) I only see the options Multi and Program. I did not see a sample option.

2) Yes you can indeed hear the change in the sound. I was actually able to do this before What I want to SEE is the actual cutoff parameter changing in real time on the screen as I turn the Q-Link.
Actually seeing the resonance parameter changing as well. Literally I mean seeing the numbers increase and decrease. It doesn't seem to do this.

Thanks for your help.

So does anyone know how to control the parameters with an external synth? Can it be done? Share your method and tell me what gear you use.

I am about to borrow a ROland SH201 (because I know all of the knobs are midi enabled, and it is a simple 2 LFO synth tosee if it will tweak the MPC.

Cheers,
Ian
