Bottom line. Any of the usual folks stuff that ends up in this scenario, JD, Pete, Primo, Ali, Tip...and so on...if you walked up to them with your MPC full of chops of their finished possibly gold and platinum records, are they gonna be like "oh yeah that's dope you did that".

I doubt it highly. They're gonna see it as the foul it is. Again I've met 2 people in 31 years that jack drum hits off legendary hip hop producer's records.

I find it down right cheating and a mockery of the entire culture. Sure, sampling is sampling, weither you do it with a break from an obscure record or a ATCQ drum break. The difference being at least it's somewhat respectful to breath life into a dead/unsuccessful artists music that had NO relationship to hip hop originally then sampling a SUCCESSFUL, very relevant, originator, founder, pioneer etc...etc... of hip hop. I thought hip hop was about being original? and not biting... like biting was punishable

if your remixing good on you, do your thing dude... the people thats downloading your kits are obviously quite new to making beats... or else they would just find the song themselves and chop it up... right?

keep on doing your thing though, if its working for you right on... another word to the wise... why call out someone who's obviously a regular on the forums? way to cannabis yourself dunny.

I agree, I just didn't understand why his post was hack and slashed. When some of top artist or producer in the business has done the samething.

In all honesty, seriously, you can't see the difference between what Marley Marl did (and other sampling producers do) and this scenario? And I'm not even trying to throw shots at anyone I'm really interested in knowing whether or not you see the difference here. Seriously.

Mad shade being thrown around here. I could care less either way, let him do him. It's not like he made a kit of YOUR songs, I guess if he does you can say 'you made it.'
Dumb to draw a line that no hip hop should be sampled from other hip hop tho. that's like saying sampling HAS to come from vinyl. I happen to only sample from vinyl 99% but doesn't mean sampling from cds and mp3 and vhs doesn't work for others.

I submit as evidence - exhibit B
ATCQ - oh my god remix -> jay-z - dead presidents produced by ski beatz

(same drums, does that mean that song is shit and qtip should shit on that song?)

answer - who gives a **** if you don't like it move on.

i'm not gonna sit here and explain what hip-hop is to a couple of children born in the 90's... but it seems a few of you here are clueless as to what this hip-hop sh!t has always been about.

there ARE unsaid rules to sampling... and there IS such a thing as "honor amongst thieves" as well.
