Good virtual instrument for pad/soft/lead synths?

Alchemy's sound engine, waveform/samples are the same on both the desktop and the mobile. So in a way that's a co-sign for the desktop one. Of course there's a $225 price difference between the two.

Reading the initial post I remembered InspectahEX mentioning a Fantom in his past. So maybe Kontakt or UVI sample libraries might fit here. Like a workstation you get samples and synth style stuff and just enough controls to get busy without being overwhelmed as can happen on a deep synth like Massive.

I wonder why no one has mentioned the Rob Papen synths. They have nice presets and a very good sound in general.

Otherwise: Omnisphere and Nexus are your top choice if you like using presets.

I wouldn't lump Omni with Nexus as far as the preset thing fuly. Although I see what you're saying. They both include presets for days.

But personally Nexus drives me insane because after about 2 minutes there's nothing more you can tweak really. It's just an overpriced ($2000+ with the expansions) ROMpler with minimal modulation and FX controls. (I don't have Nexus, I just meet those FL Crack_Nexus cats who make their beats in 11 minutes and it's a wrap. And they all crack Nexus haha)

Omni after you've gone through the presets has a fair amount of true synthesis features with having the wav ROM available, the layering and modulation possibilities. Omni is really best of both worlds, pre-rolled and roll your your own.

Not disagreeing with you really 83dude just wnated to elaborate on Omni as I'm still feeling like it was a bargain at near $500.

And co-sign on anything Rob Papen does. He doesn't get the visibility he deserves you are right. He just released a mini VST host beta for just his plugins that looks pretty cool. But Blue, Albino, Predator, Blade all are great synths. His Punch drum synth is pretty good too.

I think it's a bit difficult to find the older version with the controller, I had seen people using the old controller with the iOS MS20 app which is just sick.

I guess the new MS20 mini maybe could be used depending on it's MIDI capabilities. but I suppose that would be a bit silly with a remake of the real synth at your fingertips.

No, basic MIDI note on/off and not much more, no MIDI sent from knobs.
