Small VGA LCD display, connected to the VGA option, mounted in place of the standard MPC3000 LCD, in the same way as the MPC2500 XLCD is?

important to note that the large lcd screen replacements for the 1k and 2.5k come with a completely new operating system, that uses the screen real estate more effectively.

as far as i know, the vga out option on a 3k is just the same thing you'd get on the regular screen anyway.

but to answer yer original question, i dont see why it wouldn't be doable. power would be something to consider.

Nah, was just looking at the VGA monitor sitting behind my MPC, and thinking that it is a bit of a waste of space, and could be mounted in place of the LCD if small enough, giving a much easier to read display than the standard LCD.
