A really basic question about the MV8800 and AKP files

I'm sorry for how basic and annoying this question is. A friend of mine who lives back in my home town (where I no longer am, thank god) is considering an MV8800. They have more money than brains, but it seems like a decent machine. They asked me if I could shoot her a few samples when she gets it, I said sure.

I've poked around the internet and have gotten conflicting answers about whether or not the MV8800 has keygroup programs at all, what format they're in and whether or nt my akp programs from my z8 would load/work. The only thing I'm REALLY concerned with is the key assignments. If we lost filter info or whatever it's not the end of the world.

So yeah, in a straight answer (pleeeeease)...can I send her say a piano keygroup program with the wavs and all that and she could load it up just fine? thanks.

MV files are Roland specific, but certain Akai models are compatible in tranfering files without an issue such as the S2000, the MPC2000 and 2000XL. I'm not sure about the Z8 files.

Or you can just say fukkit, and give her the sounds on CD and let her sample it in. Why strain yourself to neverending compulsions feeding on your brain and time looking like a scnook.

Hmmmmm... I never tried akp files on my MV since I don't have any.
From the Roland website:
"The sampler can load a variety of file formats, including Akai MPC 2000/4000 from CD-ROMs or floppy disks. It also reads Roland S-700, WAV, and AIFF files, and you can import audio directly from audio CDs. It even reads Acid files and calculates the bars and tempo."

Only Akai S1000, S3000, MPC2000 and MPC2000XL programs. You could use free bluebox to load akp files, then save them as pgm. At the very least it will extract the waveforms. The Mv is a good self contained machine, and is bugless.

MV8800 has a CD Rom, at least mine did. Never tried loading .akp due to the onboard library instruments. Couldn't adjust to the MV so I flipped it quicker than a pancake.
