Ren Feature Questions

Long-time MPC 2000XL user thinking about the Ren. After reading through much of the software manual I had a few questions:

I would be using the Ren software in Plug-in mode in a DAW (Digital Performer) which has automatic plug-in delay compensation. If I assign things like UAD plug-ins inside the Ren software to MPC tracks, pads, sends etc, will it use the DAW automatic delay compensation? For that matter can you even assign UAD plug-ins to the MPC software while using it in plug-in mode?

I saw in a video the 16 q-links controlling 16 parameters like filter cutoff, decay, end level,etc.) Can you have those 16 parameters assigned to the Q-links and then quickly switch from pad to pad while adjusting the parameters with the q-links for each pad, and will it hold the edits instead of resetting the sound every time you go to another pad? For instance hit one pad, turn 4 q-links, hit another pad, turn 6 q-links, and then go back to the first pad - will it have the 4 edits you made? It seems like a quick way to make new kits if so.

Is the latency an issue while recording? I have a recent Mac Pro and would not do the actual recording through effects in order to cut down the latency.

Once you record a beat, are you getting a better sound out the analog outs and back into your A/D converter, or is it just as good just bouncing down in the DAW? My guess is the former.

My setup is AMD athlon 64 X2 3200+ (6400+), 2GB of Ram and im running Win 7 (tweaked) Ren gives me latency about 2.7 mil sec @48kHz..so no problems..
And if you have greater equipment you'll get even lower latency..

Answering two of your questions....

UAD plugins (or any supported plugin) can be used as FXs or instruments in the VST/AU/RTAS MPC plugin.

You can only assign a Qlink to a single pad. It would be nice if there was a global function where the Qlinks in Main Mode can edit the parameters of any pad. Your idea sounds like it will significantly enhanced the Ren.

In pad edit mode it is like that..but you don't have to assign them..

Sounds like latency won't be an issue. I am confused though about the q-links answers. Are you saying that it works the way I suggest but only in pad edit mode? Or not at all? I was just wanting it for pad edit mode to make kits, although like Jah says it would be a good feature in Main mode, while beats were playing.

It works like that only in pad edit mode!

I tought that you were referring to Q-Link assign mode..

So it seems that Ren is what your looking..but if i was you i would wait for feedback of 1.4 update..

there sound be a "Live Mode" where u could assing qlinks to any pad or funtion in the ren and use em while seq is playing.
