Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Especially when you're watching your spike the h3!! out of one core while the others are practically asleep! Pretty much makes you go :fku: bad coding! :WTF:

Yeah my only point is that Maschine and Ren/Studio are really the only high profile non multi core apps. And both would benefit so greatly from freeing up our CPU's core to get beasting. Again it's a shame you can't do multiple instances of the Ren software as a 'in the meantime' workaround.

If Maschine doesn't have it by year's end I'm done with it. So again I hope one or other can get it done before Summer's over/early September, and surely once one of them drops it the other will have no choice but to follow suit.

Just good old capitalism/competition benefiting a whole market once it actually happens, nothing to do with any Vs. nonsense. I want everybody's tools rocking at full strength no matter what you use.

Since the Ren and Maschine can be hosted within DAWs that can spread processing over multicores....perhaps this is the reason why this 'appears' not to be a priority?

While we wait, I'll be interested in seeing the results of benchmark testing to show how many plugin instances you can use before your CPU is crippled.

Maybe in Machine's case because you have the multi instance option, but a multi core host wouldn't be able to spread the core load of the plugin itself on behalf of a non multi core app unfortunately.

The host would essentially be able to take data it's crunching from Maschine or Ren over multi cores, but it's a multi core host that's to be expected, all data it receives/processes ultimately will be spread over multi cores. But the plugin itself is stuck on the one core.

As far as benchmark, just break out a few even medium cpu intensive synths and add some FX and many times only like a total of 4-6 plugins and you're at 60% or more. Run the same stuff in just Live or FL or any multi core capable host and remove the single core app from the equation it's gonna be 1/2, 1/4...etc. what Maschine or Ren taxed the CPU at when they hosted the plugins.

I guess a Ren user could stretch CPU farther by using any multi core FX plugs you have on the DAW's end and have more CPU for your synths/sound generating plugins hosted in the Ren.

I totally realize that we can still do a lot with the limitations as they are now on either product, it's just the sooner they are both multi core everybody can really step into 2013 and worry less about early bounces and track freezes and run some truly monster sessions standalone or in DAW.

So again I'm just looking forward to it getting done on both products as it will be a major win for all the users. And seeing that Cakewalk had this stuff on lock in 2005 it's not terribly difficult to provide, and with today's CPU's and high RAM counts it's really a must.

Unfortunately that's not the case, for while the DAW's spread their processing across the cores and/or CPU's (in multiprocessor configurations), they cannot evenly offload the processing of single thread clients such as VST's. Those applications much also be capable of handling multi-thread calculations...

wow... didnt 10 JUST come out?
I know whoever actually pays for pro tools updates mad as shettt right now lol

Not me. Just the typical cost of keeping software current while doing this hobby.

Anyway sorry I was mistaken on PT 64 bit, but no matter, as I said 32 bit can multi thread ansd have multi core support which 32 bit PT does already.

So Maschine and Ren/Studio are the two highest visibility products that lack multi core support. It's basically in just about everything else out there. So I just hope both companies join the party soon.

MPC Software is completely new, and should have been multicore/64 bit right from the start.

Pro Tools could not simply/easily switch to 64 bit until a major application/plugin-format rewrite, not so easy for an industry standard DAW with many companies making compatible plugins.

In a plugin host, like MPC Software, multicore support is more important than 64 bit, in my opinion, so that it can run lots of plugins without putting as much load on the CPU, and therefore being able to do so at lower audio buffer settings.

So I got the push up and running. I love Abelton for the multi core support. It is everything i need.

Personally I really like the Push. It will take a little getting used to Abelton's workflow. And it's only downfall for me is I have to use a sound card for samples and monitoring. But I haven't crashed it yet. And last night I had it loaded up with plugins. Barely got over 10% on my CPU.

The Ren will sit in wait till it has what I need.

Akai Reps if your reading this. Metatron72 is very correct with his statements. You guys have to know this. I waited almost 10 weeks for my push. Cause they are back ordered. RENs are on a 20% discount at MPC stuff cause the have a overstock.
"They ain't selling" If you make a game changer and hell you get multi core . You would be ahead. Not everyone is chopping old vinyl records and using sampled kits. Some guys like the Idea of a software controller. Where you have full control.

New, or second hand, on CL?

Barely used with full packaging and software. Dropping to $800. Steady at $850. If you spend more than $999 BRAND NEW at retail, right now, you are doing it wrong.

Right, I was looking at new pricing, didn't think you would find many new on CL.
