The entire thing is too vague, but the opening line to me implies 'other records' as meaning other hip hop records because why would anybody need to state "It's OK to sample drums from old records" when it's been that way for 3 decades?

So we're back to the original post. What's interesting here? Nothing. OP finds it interesting or thinks we should that somebody nobody knows from Adam named Binkdog says total shark mode is all good?

Or in the second one I just quoted, Is this Humble Monsta cat saying one's production would be more interesting by taking finished hip hop drums? Or is the interesting aspect just centered on if you can get away with it or not?

Its all good. I have been following, but never said how I felt because I wanted to hear all arguments. I posted the link because I thought that it would sway some people's arguments. I know that I personally struggle with it. I dont do it, but I have done it once or twice. It made me feel like crap. I was like how could I take hip hop drums and make hip hop. Now, I learned my drums and sample my same trusty vinyl breaks (Isleys-Footsteps anyone) and tweak to what I want. It'll make you a better beatmaker in the end. I promise. It teaches you how to manipulate a drums through things like filtering, pitching, stretching, reverb, compression, eq, etc. This is shit you don't learn by simply swiping/snatching.
