Do you need to have a mixer??

i have the MPC just got it, i need to know if you absolutley need the mixer and what for, or can i just run it to the pc via a MIDI interface. i'll prolly track with CEP. if so the mixer i was looking at was Behringer UB1202 aiiyo let me know.

well first of all what mpc do you got. if its the 2000/2000xl, does it have the 8-outs. If it has the 8 outs, you need a mixer that has 8 ins or and interface that has 8 ins.

just remember, no audio goes through midi cables.

i got the 2000xl no 8 outputs. so how would i hook it up.

midi cant export sound. it just shows what notes and etc.

you need to put some money into a computer interface. You can ask around, everybody likes the delta "line" of interfaces. But theres plenty more, you might want to go with a pro tools set-up. Do Your searching around on the internet until you find something that suits you. You also need to invest in the 8-outs so you can track your beats easier. Right now, if you were gonna hook anything up, i would hook the mpc's stereo outs up to the line of your computer. Youll probably need to buy different cables to do this.

i got tha omni studio so can i run it into there? then record into CEP?

if it has stereo ins, yes you can record it into whatever you want to record it into.

i would highly recommend one.to be able to hear everything at the same time. i.e. keyboard, drums, etc...

aiiyo ya'll gud lookin on tha advice, imma cop the 8-outs, and get a mixer i was lookin at the Mackie DFX12 12x2 is that a gud one? i lookin to spend mayb $200 to $400.

your midi out CANT export sounds - like he said - if you're running your 8 out just get an old mix board (ebay it for under a bill) good vintage boom-bap sound
