I could have sworn that I read somewhere that Timberland and Missy Eliot uses either a MPC3000 or MPC60, along with a motif, triton, reaktor (as well as various other software). Peace.
But I guess I'm confused with why you are wondering what MPC he's using, because you can make any song that timberland has made with your mpc 4000. As far as his sounds (drums for ex.) I've read that both Timberland and Dr. Dre EQ and process there samples before they put them into the mpc and they process them futher during mixdown.
Peace.

I really don't know what timberland uses for sequencing, but I do know that he has every EMU module, and various soft synths, a triton and a motif. They sample all of the sounds off there into a ASR-10. They might even use it for sequenceing, but I'm not sure, but all of their sounds go through the ASR

he USED a 3000 at one point....dunno bout now, but I've seen this first hand...then again, y'all prolly also seen him on BET's 106 and Park with the ASR10 when they claimed he was gonna "make a beat on the spot"....and all he really did was press play and stop...hahah

Timbaland uses an ASR-10 and Cubase and some vsts now, but I'm sure he uses other shit still also synced to cubase.

He uses Jimmy D. and that's sure somethin' you can't get offa ebay! :D

But seriously - I don't think this "who uses what" thread will bring you anywhere.

I'm sure he uses alot of equipment - beginnin' with samplers/sequencers such like asr/mpc - all those fancy sound-modules and synths - outboard gear and FX - great mixing boards - even more great studios with great monitoring and acoustics - software like protools - his experience and support of people who know their sh*t.

If you would want to get everything that he uses - you should have some rich parents - or some good connections to a studio and suchlike, etc.

There is really no simple answer.

At the point of a career like his - you will use everything you can and want to use - there's sure no money-limit.
That's why he's buildin' his own studio complex.

But a MPC is sure a good startin' point.

just my 2 cents
