How do I preview my samples with JJOS 2XL on MPC 1000?

I just got my MPC 1000 with JJOS 2XL, however from what I've seen F5 should allow me to listen to my samples. Yet instead of being able to play them it only has the option to delete. Am I missing something here?

Hit the PLAY transport button (i.e. the big white button at the bottom right of your MPC that you'd normally use to play a sequence).

Thanks for that! Now every time I try to load a sound it comes up with "Sample name already exists!! Replace or rename?" Replacing doesn't seem to work and renaming it doesn't either. How do I format my CF card?

You can format in the MPC on the load screen or use a computer, on a computer choose FAT32.

Keep your file names under 16 characters, if the first 16 character spaces are the same text and the differentiation in file naming comes after the first 16 characters the MPC thinks they are all the same file.

I think you said you're on OS X the other day, here's a free app to do batch file renaming and text string substitutions or deletions if you have a lot of long file names.

Thanks for that! All the samples were way under 16 characters, I deleted all files from my CF Card. Now I'm trying to hook my MPC to my Macbook via USB just it's not appearing on my Macbook

Try to format the card in the MPC without the USB mounting and then try again.

If your troubles persist, PM me and I'll boot OS X if it seems we need to see if the issues are repeatable on another 1000/JJOS2XL+OS X.

No idea how to format it as I don't have a card reader so I can't do it that way and with JJOS 2XL it's different to the manual...

- edit - turn's out you have to press window to format it, done it now!

Any idea how I can easily convert my i Tunes library from MP3 to WAV? Audacity would be a bit of a hassle, but then so would Logic Pro as I'd have to do them each individually...

I also changed the i Tunes import settings to WAV yet when I copy them out of there they are MP3 again...

Well just so you have the whole picture, the converted mp3 to WAV will be 90% dead space, no increase in quality, but 256/320 kbps ones turn out generally OK.

In iTunes with import set to 16 bit 44khz, right click and choose "Convert to WAV" while highlighting one or more files, the context menu changes after the import settings are set. iTunes does a fair job at converting and you can control+a 100 of them or whatever, so it's very quick and easy.
