I did a post a couple of days ago about whether to get the MPC Studio or the 1000 and decided the 1000 is the choice for me, I've been looking everywhere to find the cheapest price with the best upgrades and I came across two on ebay,
This one is currently £245/$382:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190851651429? ... 1423.l2649

This one is currently £299/$464:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Akai-mpc1000- ... 4ac58130b9

So can anyone tell me which one is better for the price and hardware.
I'm new so I just want other peoples advice on what they'd go for

I was also looking at this one from the US http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Akai-MPC-1000 ... 43bc083fe1

Why are you looking at a generic blue MPC1000's in America when there's an abundance in the UK? You do realise there's an extra 20% VAT to pay on that the moment it arrives in the UK?

The problem with most blue MPC1000's is that they feature the old pad design. Those pads feel hard, insensitive and eventually fail. Akai updated the design for the second generation of black MPC1000s to have 'classic MPC feel', and offered an upgrade kit for $200 to the people who had the old style pads.

Trust me, if a blue MPC1000 has upgraded pads, they'll mention it in the listing. If it doesn't mention the upgrade, don't pay any more than £275 + shipping IMO (assuming near mint)

Some black MPCs also do not have the new pads, so this should devalue them as well, although black tend to fetch a bit more.

Basically if you wait it out, you'll get a black 1000 with JJOSXL, 128MB RAM and confirmed new pads for around £375.

Just make sure you know what you are getting. This one has been relisted 2 or 3 times now:

Gives no info on anything, you'd have to assume it's just stock spec, so only 16MB RAM. But it could be old style pads. The shipping price is outrageous for economy shipping.

Lots of topics around here that explain how to check for new style pads - you can ask the sellers to check it out for you.

Thanks for the reply's I was looking at that black one as it's the only modern one on ebay at the moment, I just wanted to make sure before i buy anything I was thinking about holding on until one comes up but if these were good deals I didn't want to miss out on them, I think I'll message the guy and ask about what upgrades it has if it has any, if not I'll hold on for a better one,
thanks a lot.
