On the MPC track you want to record the motif on, make sure it is set to MIDI, not DRUM. Also make sure it is set to the right midi channel number & MPC midi output that the motif sound is on. Bottom left corner of MAIN SCREEN.

how do i know which is the right channel?...is there a setting on the motif that i need to adjust?....i have it set to 1A...my output is connected to the A output as well....but i still get no sound when set to midi.....when it is set to drum on that track..... i can hear the samples in the mpc when i play the keys....the sounds from the motif still will not play into the mpc...

Ok, so your Motif keys can play the MPC sounds....that means your midi connection going out from the Motif & into the MPC is fine.

You have an MPC sequence track set to 1A & a cable going from midi out A to the midi in of the Motif...(right?)

Now, you need to make sure your Motif if set to receive midi channel 1. Check the Motif manual for that. But....... you also need to make sure there is sequence data in the MPC track for it to play the Motif. You won't hear anything if it is an empty track.

Finally, you say:
the sounds from the motif still will not play into the mpc...

I'm not sure what you mean here. What are the audio outputs of the Motif connected to? Have you got audio outs from both instruments going into a mixer & then an amp?[/quote]
