MPC 2500

I keep having a problem with the levels of samples and drums. I'll have a sequence (just samples) ready to go but once I drop the drums into the sequence over the sample the whole sample loses volume. So then I have to adjust all the levels for it to sound even. Is this a setting of the 2500 that i dont know about or is this just a glitch or something.

I have a second question that i need help on. Is there any way that I can have two pads be triggered by only hitting one pad? instead of layering two kicks on the same pad i want to hit a pad and have two be triggered. is that possible? i know on the XL it is but i dont know how to do this on the 2500.
